Chapter 3: Her visit

*Three days later*

Nina's coming of age ball hadn't given her the outcome that she or her father were hoping for. Her mate was not there she had entertained the idea that her mate was not of age yet. She spent most of her days in her room reading and playing with her new dragon pet, she decided to name him Jasper. For a tiny thing that was hatched three days ago he was big now, he could barely fit around her neck anymore so he would lay behind her on the sofa like a lazy house cat or lay down and rest his head in her lap as she read.

"Hmm that's interesting." Jasmine perked her head up from folding the clothes

"What is my lady?" Nina stood from her seat and started pacing reading her book. Jasmine had stood looking at her patiently her head slightly tilted.

"This book is giving me deeper insight to my bloodline" Nina had turned to look at Jasmine then Jasper who was sleeping on the back of the sofa

"Jasper." Jaspers eyes opened looking at Nina gently lifting his head

"āla" (Wings) Jasper stood instantly spreading his wings as she requested, Jasmines eyes widen.

"How did you do.."

"Our bloodline goes back to ancient Roman, there's where I got my eyes from, my bloodline is from my great ancestor that was blessed by the sun goddess." Nina smirked looking at Jasper

"Arcus." (Bow) Jasper bowed his head at her

"This is fantastic.." Nina read more but her facial expression turn from excited to confused.

"What it is my lady?" Jasmine stepped closer to see what made her lady confused

"I'm not sure what they are meaning, but I'll try it.." Nina looked at Jasper who had returned from his bow looking at her waiting for his next order.

"Connectere." Jaspers eyes narrowed in on hers as his mark started to glow, stinging Nina's hand causing her to drop the book.

"Ow.." Nina grabbed her hand looking away from Jasper, just as it started it ended.

"I don't think.."

" How are you my queen? " Nina gasped covering her mouth looking at Jasper, then at Jasmine who displayed her confusion with an arched brow.

"Jasper spoke?" Jasmine leaned forward getting Nina's attention

"My lady? What do you mean he spoke?"

"Y..You didn't hear him he spoke just now?" Jasmine shook her head look at her lady

"I don't think so my Lady, perhaps you want to rest?" Nina nodded looking at Jasper as she walked to her bed, he followed her jumping from the sofa and onto her bed. Jasmine walked out of the room closing the door behind her, Nina rubbed her head.

"You have not gotten insane my queen " Nina stopped looking at Jasper, setting up in her bed.

"H..How are you talking?"

"I am talking through our connection, on your hand I gave you my mark, when you spoke to me and said Connectere, we became one. I can speak to you and you me." Nina nodded slowly trying to understand, that's what the book meant it would connect them as one.

"Umm.. So how does this work?" Jasper tilted his head

"As in what my queen?" Nina shook her head

"Why do you keep saying Queen?"

"Oh my apologies, I am Phoenix of the great ancestors, I have been waiting some time for you to find me. If I may explain it better with some help." Nina nodded setting up move, Jasper walked to her placing his head against hers, as he did Nina felt a rush.

"Where are we?" Nina turned around finding a talk man in front of her, taking a step back from him

"You my queen are in the tree of bloodlines"

"Jasper? You're a human..How?" Jasper smirked showing off a set of extended fangs just as his dragon does, his build body shown through his clothes a simple suit and tie, his brown hair almost close enough to be black, his eyes his normal green. He held his arm out as Nina slowly did he started walking.

"As you know or have guessed, your great ancestors called on a bless in which it was met. Blessed with the breath of fire, strength of thousands and eyes that lead their way. Those he was bless it became a curse passed from through generations, as that curse passed so did one single dragon egg." Jasper held up his index finger, as he bent over touching the ground. Fire rose up along with a dragon, Nina gasped trying to run.

"Don't worry he won't hurt you. This was your great ancestor, and behind him is more of them your mother died before she was able to show you your gift." Jasper stepped away from her, to open a door for her.

"Gift? I don't understand?" Jasper closed the door retaking her arm in his.

"Your mother was our last Queen, a guardian of the dragons if you wish to call her that. Sadly when she passed we feared no one was the protector, which caused fear in the realm making it hard for us to live day to day without help." Nina stopped looking at Jasper

"What does that mean for me? I just turned eighteen I haven't found my mate and now I'm some Queen to a realm?" Jasper shrugged but nodded "This is crazy.. I'm crazy." Jasper laughed shaking his head

"No you're not crazy my queen, being mateless does make things slightly harder but it's still early."

"What do you mean slightly harder?"

"By having a mate you can rule here and your own empire or if you choose linking them both."

"Linking them how?" He smiled leaning her to a gate, it was made of brass, locked.

"This gate opens our realm to yours, by linking them dragon's can roam freely and not be stuck here." Nina arched her brow

"Here? There's nothing here Jasper" Jasper laughed, he moved to another door which he lead her out first. Ninas eyes went in awe, dragons flew over her head all different looks, many had horns others didn't, some has spikes on their tails and bodies it was incredible. One landed in front of her, taking her by surprise, it's hazel eyes looking her up and down seeing the mark on her hand it bowed.

"Fox, do shift please?" Jasper asked taking Nina aback 'shift' she thought waiting to see. As Jasper request the once huge dragon shift into another tall man, his build tone was shown through his clothes, his hazel eyes landing in Nina.

"My queen." He bowed to her again before smiling his extended fangs still present.

"Are they always long in human form?" Both nodded

"That has to suck" Fox and Jasper laughed slightly

"Not at all, it's a nice way to frightening people." Fox shrugged looking at Jasper, the back to Nina.

"The palace has been expecting you my queen." Nina looked around at the two man 'what a interesting day' she thought.
