3rd POV
Seb entered the living room, holding Mimi in his arms. Upon seeing Vaylerix for the first time, Seb reflexively held Mimi tighter to him and gave the unfamiliar "pretty boy" an unrepentantly jealous glare.
Vaylerix didn't even acknowledge Seb's presence. He was far too focused on what he was doing. He had vials and reagents out on the coffee table and he was measuring and mixing things together.
Laura and Max were coming down the stairs with the washing machine strapped to the dolly.
"Can you at least tell me why you are removing the washer?" asked Seb.
"Best if we act now and explain later, sir, " answered Laura.
Max and Laura took the washer out the front door and put in next to the other tainted items.
Seb placed Mimi on the love seat, he pulled up a leather wingback chair next to her, and stationed himself, as if he was guarding her.
Vaylerix paid him no mind and continued to mix the reagents into a crystal vial.
"That was the last of it. What else needs to be done so that we can complete the purification?" asked Laura.
"We need to wake the queen, she needs to drink this, and we are going to need to purge the soiled clothing she is currently wearing," said Vaylerix in a 'matter-of-fact' tone.
"My concern is that her lack of consciousness is not natural," said Laura.
Vaylerix looked Mimi over.
"You're right, my little vixen. It is not natural. It is Lamashtu's doing from top to bottom. It's even more imperative we purify everything without further delay," said Vaylerix in a forceful tone.
He reached into his pack and drew forth a purple vial that he called "Mystical Smelling Salts." He unstopped the cork and held the bottle under Mimi's nose.
She woke up like a flat-lined junky that just got a syringe of epinephrine in the heart. (That's a reference to "Pulp Fiction," for those of you that have never seen that iconic scene).
"Your majesty, I am Vaylerix. I am so very sorry for your loss. But I need you to drink this immediately," said Vaylerix.
"Uhm, ok, what's in it," Mimi asked.
"Max. Laura." said Vaylerix and he put his right hand to his forehead.
"Miss Mimi, please, just drink the elixir, we will explain after, you're running out of time," said Laura.
Mimi tossed back the vial like a frat boy doing jell-o shooters.
"Good, now, your majesty, the elixir will purify and heal your body. But we need everything that you are wearing," said Vaylerix.
"Mimi, I have some new clothes here, let's get you changed," said Laura and she lead Mimi to the guest bathroom.
After Laura and Mimi returned, Vaylerix continued his explanation. But first he put a red dragon scale gauntlet on his right hand. and he pulled a shinny white gold gem from his cloak.
"Now, your majesty, we are about to incinerate everything that has been in contact with your blood, after the conflagration, I will explain why. Laura, did you get the baby?" asked Vaylerix.
"Yes, everything is outside except this lot," answered Laura referring to the clothes and feminine napkin Mimi had been wearing.
"Let's proceed then," said Vaylerix and he headed outside.
"Your Majesty, white knight, this is a celestial coal. I am going to break it open, and the flames will consume all that is not pure. It is holy fire. Do not look at it, it will blind you. My vixen, you will need to shield me, and everything else that we don't want the fire to consume, unless you think you can contain the fire to that area," said Vaylerix.
"Come on, love, give me a real challenge," said Laura as she cracked her knuckles and popped her neck by looking side to side.
"Gods, I have forgotten how sexy you are... we don't have time for that now, you little vixen," said Vaylerix with a dark chuckle.
"Ready?" asked Laura.
"On my count, 1, 2, 3!" said Vaylerix.
Using his right hand, Vaylerix crushed the gem in his hand and threw it on the couch, then leapt out of the blast radius just as the couch and all the tainted items where consumed by white-gold flames that appeared in a blinding flash.
The blaze lasted only a few seconds, there was no smoke, no vapors and the ground was not scorched or burnt. Vaylerix felt an intense pain in his right hand. The dragon scale gauntlet had been consumed by the coal when he crushed it, his hand was red and covered in 2nd degree burns and blisters. But despite the pain he looked around where the tainted items had been. In the grass he found an opal-esque gem, about the size a quarter, left after the fire. It was the crystalized remains of the child, she was innocent, therefore not consumed by the flames. It was evidence that Mimi and Seb were not at fault and had done nothing wrong. The miscarriage was all because of Lamashtu's attack on Mimi. He picked the gem up in his left hand.
Vaylerix headed back inside the cabin, everyone followed. Seb was still eye-balling Vaylerix.
Vaylerix quickly scanned Seb's mind. He saw Seb's contempt for Trystian and that Seb was projecting that bias on to Vaylerix simply because he is also of Elven blood.
"My little vixen, tell Mr. Jealousy over there to calm down and get the knot out of his knickers. I'd tell him, but it is so much sexier when you say it," said Vaylerix with a wicked smirk as he was looking at Laura with lustful eyes.
"Gladly, Love. Master Sebbastian, Calm down and get the knot out of your knickers. My Vay is nothing like Trystian," said Laura.
Vaylerix ranted, "I am taller, better looking, I have better taste in women, no offense your majesty, I was referring to Trystian's actual conquests, not you, and the new Lord of the Fae and I aren't even on the same plane, considering he's now in the fae realm... Besides, my father's people, the highborn elves, are aloof, elitists, of royal decent, and with the exception of her majesty here, and only because of her title, wouldn't associate with any of you. Please do not confuse me for that randy, low born offspring of a wood elf and a wood nymph."
Seb relaxed a little. Mimi giggled.
Seb cleared his throat and spoke calmly, "Now, will someone please tell me why it was necessary to purge half my house with celestial flame?"
"Forgive me, I forget others don't share my knowledge base and understanding of things," said Vaylerix.
He took a seat and motioned for everyone else to do the same.
"Is everyone comfortable? This is not a short story, especially if there are going to be questions," said Vaylerix eyeing Seb.
"Are you comfortable? Your hand is injured," said Mimi.
"Ah this? This isn't so bad. It hurts like hell and it stinks, but I figure I can tolerate the pain long enough to give a full explanation then I can pass out until it heals," said Vaylerix with a wink.
"That will not do. If you will allow me, I would like to heal you, to show my thanks for what you have done for me," said Mimi.
"Are you feeling strong enough, your majesty?" asked Vaylerix.
"Yes, I would like to try," said Mimi.
"I will let you try, your majesty," said Vaylerix with a shallow nod.
Mimi walked over and stood in front of Vaylerix.
Without speaking Vaylerix stretched forth his hand. Mimi closed her eyes and drew in a deep breath. She focused her thoughts. She thought back on the training and exercises she and Laura had done. She extended her right hand above her head. Then she fluidly waved her hand in what appeared to be drawing an infinity symbol in the air. Then she placed her hand over Vaylerix's hand, but not touching it.
"Reclaim, restore and be healed," she said softly but in a commanding tone.
There was a warm white light that enveloped Vaylerix's hand, then the light disappeared, it was as though the burns had never happened.
"Oh, thank you, your majesty. That is far better now. Ah, the smell is gone too. Thank goodness, burnt dragon flesh stinks," said Vaylerix.
