Layla’s POV The afternoon sun sat warm over the clubhouse yard. The desert air felt calm, and the place was filled with small sounds that made the clubhouse feel like home. Kids were running near the picnic tables, a radio played old country music from someone’s truck, and the smell of grilled burgers floated from the back patio. For once, the clubhouse felt peaceful.
