After spending the entirety of the weekend hate, hate, hating his life, Cody heads for work Monday morning as a walking heap of messy emotions. He’s so distracted that he almost forgets to get off the train at his stop, walks right by the deli and has to turn back to get his coffee and breakfast from Mrs. Safari—who notices, but lets him off the hook with a smile and lighthearted roll of her eyes—and stands in front of the elevator for a full minute before realizing he hasn’t hit the button.
