"Dance with me"

"Sir, I'm working" I spoke unable to hide my grin.

"I know. Dance with me. It's an order"

"Lucas what are you doing?" I said shaking my head.

" I want a dance. Just one?"

"I'm not even dressed apr-"

"I don't care. You're beautiful" he said pulling me towards him.

"What if I couldn't dance?"

"I doubt there's anything you aren't capable of, Ms. Smith"

"Is that so Mr. Bruno?"

"Mhm"

"Imagine Lucas from 5 months ago heard you"

"f**k that guy"

"No comment" I replied making him raise his brow before he spun me around.

"Daring aren't we?"

"Does that surprise you?" I asked smiling as he hugged me and held me tightly.

"Every f*****g time" he whispered in my ear before spinning me back around.

"Update 7-9?" I heard my earpiece go off.

"7-9, Blackbird is still inside. No suspicious activity detected" I spoke back before kissing his cheek.

"Back to work, sir"

Interview
Chapter 1 "Sometimes, you realize too late that what you're looking for is exactly what you just let go of" What they fail to mention is that sometimes, letting go of someone is the best thing one can do. As a legend once said, "too much love will kill you". Until you die however, you go through hell and back. Here I am, losing the greatest thing that has happened to me as the darkness surrounds my soul on my way to my own hell. ••• Chapter 1 - Interview Lucas POV "Lucas, for the tenth time today. You need to understand that it is not just your life at risk here but millions of others. After yesterday's incident there's no way in hell you'll be roaming the streets like-" the chief of police started yelling but I just could not be quiet anymore. "There was no incident yesterday! All that happened was that we suspected that we were being followed. Nothing more. Do not exaggerate the situation" "Oh, my apologies. I'm exaggerating a situation where half of the world's population could disappear!" "No one will disappear, alright? Nothing will happen" I said praying to god that I was right. "That's not your decision to make anymore. Now you either join the other two families and you stay at the protective custody or you meet the requirements" "What were your requirements now again?" I said making him sigh. I love getting this man so mad that he wants to quit his job. "Security team that follows and protects you from a short range as well as the current long-range service you have now" "So, you just want me to hire bodyguards?" "I want you to hire bodyguards and stop trying to beat our current security team" "I'm not beating anything" I said trying to play it off. "Bruno, if I get one more call from the team leaders saying they don't have their eyes on you due to some stupid movement of yours that you decided not to report to us, I'm gonna throw you in jail" "Is that a threat?" I asked raising a brow & dropping the jokes & dumb attitude. "You're goddamn right it is" Walker said before turning around and heading to the door. "Fine" I spat knowing he was not playing around anymore. He had his serious Walker face. "I'll hire f*****g bodyguards" "And you'll stop being an asshole to the current security team" he said turning around to face me. "And that" I said, sighing. "One condition though" "What?" He sighed. "I get to pick them" "Fine. We will get you a list of candidates who we think are fit-" he started but I cut him off again. It was so amusing to piss him off, I am not even going to deny it. "Yeah yeah yeah, I'll get them ready anyways" "Get them ready?" He asked confused and inside my mind I was smirking at what a genius I am. "What? You don't expect me to not train my future bodyguards before they get the job, do you?" "How the f**k are you going to train them? With that busted knee?" He said looking at my still bandaged leg from about 3 weeks ago. Yeah, I got kidn*pped and got my knee injured. Oh no the end of the world... Guess what? It isn't. I have so much money I could make myself a new knee. Out of f*****g gold. "Walker. Careful" I warned, and he rolled his eyes. "Bruno, you have 1 month exactly to have two people for the job, or I swear to god I will throw you in jail" "Fine. Now you want some bourbon or not?" I said standing up and grabbing the new bottle I got as he sighed turning around & scratching his bald head. Jimi Walker, the chief of police who made it his mission to eventually throw me in jail. He's a man in his 50's with a heart of gold. His father named him after Hendrix & his taste in bourbon is phenomenal so we do get along quite well as one would guess... as long as we don't mention work at least. "When the hell did you get this beauty?" He asked looking at the new guitar hanging on the wall in my living room.     ••• Stella's POV I sat in the waiting room surrounded by a handful of men who had bodies way too big for their faces. I caught a few of them looking at me, surely wondering some questions in their head but I just tried to breath and focus. This was my last shot at finding a good job. I read a bit about the man that was going to interview me in a few short minutes. Didn't find much good, but the job paid well, and I needed the money. I just hope that the gossip newspaper aren't right about him being so disrespectful towards people. "Mr. Smith" a middle-aged lady with chestnut hair put up in a formal bun said. When a few seconds passed and no one replied, I guessed that she got it wrong. "That's me, Ms. Smith" I replied correcting her. She must have just read it wrong. "Oh" she said looking displeased. Great... "My apologizes... follow me please" she said at last and I did as told. We walked down a gigantic corridor as her high heels echoed with every step she took. "We are going to the last office" she informed me as I nodded but we eventually got stopped by a friendly looking middle-aged man. "Elena perfect timing! I'm so sorry I'm disturbing. Can you get those files posted though? I have to get started on the new ones and leave for a meeting in one hour" He asked but before she replied he looked at me. "Oh, my apologies. I can wait" he said when he noticed that she was busy. He didn't look older than 26 with his charcoal black hair and brown eyes. He has a subtle beard and quite tan skin. He was incredibly long too. His voice was very calm and welcoming. He seemed like the fun guy at parties. "I'll just show Miss Smith to Mr. Bruno's office and I'll be right back" Elena said with a smile on her face. "Oh well I can show her if you want" the man spoke playfully as Elena rolled her eyes. "No thank you. She has to be there today" she said smiling as he chuckled. "I'm sorry where are my manners. John Rain" he spoke reaching out his hand for me to shake. "Stella Smith" I replied. "What brings you here?" He asked "Interview for the job" "Best of luck. Don't let me keep you waiting. It was nice to meet you" "Nice to meet you too" I replied as we parted ways. Around another minute later we had arrived at the very last door. I took a deep breath trying to steady my heartbeat. Please let this be the one I thought to myself as Elena knocked on the office door. "Come in" a rough voice yelled from inside and she opened the door. "This is Ms. Smith. She's here for the interview" "You're late" he said as I could already tell this was going to go to hell. "Good luck" Elena said before walking out and leaving us alone. "Take a seat" he instructed as I did as told and watched him skim through my files for a few seconds. s**t he didn't even look at my papers probably. His office was... cold. Not only literally but figuratively too. I couldn't help but stare at him while he quickly went through some pf my papers. He has lustrous, captivating silver eyes and cherry red lips. His jawline was outstanding to say the least and his hair looked so soft and fluffy yet perfectly styled. He was overall very easy on the eye, but his personality seemed like a disadvantage. "So, miss Stella Smith, why do you want to be a bodyguard? I mean surely there are many more fitting jobs for someone like you" Is he kidding me...? His personality was definitely a freaking disadvantage. "Someone like me...?" I replied wanting to hear furthermore about what exactly he meant although I knew exactly what he meant. "I am going to be straightforward with you, I'm looking for someone who is able to protect my life, someone who will take this as seriously as the military. There isn't space for risks in this job and if I can't even trust you to be on time how am I supposed to trust you to protect my life in case of an emergency?" He said clearly not expecting an answer and just asking rhetorically. A minute passed, and I hadn't replied yet, lost at words at how idiotic and ignorant he was being. "Thank you for coming. You can lea-" he started but I cut him off. "You're supposed to expect that I'm able to protect your life if an emergency occurs due to my not only military training but also the fact that I served in the army for 6 years & finished top of my BT class. Last time I checked when applying to this job you aren't a mind nor future reader so the fact that you are assuming how seriously I will take my job gives me a feeling that you already made up your mind before I even stepped foot into your office. Now for the record, Elena got delayed with bringing in the next interviewee due to your order of coffee. You are the one late and making us all late due to your poor time management, sir" He went quite for a few seconds, but his expression never changed. "Do you seriously expect me to give you the job after that, miss Smith?" I already went this far, might as well enjoy the last moment... "What I expect is to be respected and you failed my only expectation. Thanks for taking the time to prove that you're a piece of s**t" I spoke getting up and walking away. There went my chance at not being homeless at the end of this month but hell this felt good. ••• I took out my phone on the walk home and dialed a number as the cold air had my hair flying. It was kind of ironic how I felt warmer on the streets with the crisp air surrounding me, than in his office. Yet for some odd reason, there was something in that office that made me want to go back. "Hey. How did it go?" Asked Rebekah on the other line. She's a close friend and my roommate who I owe so much to, then again it seems like you owe so many people so much as an ex-military female. "Uhm... not as expected" I said beating around the bush. "Oh gosh what did you do to him?" "Look I just don't think I'll get it. I'll just try the bakery" I said mentally slapping myself for messing this up. "Mom sent me some money so I got these month’s rent covered so don't worry about it. You will find something sooner than later" she said. "I hope so. I'll talk to you later" I said and hung up getting off the public transport buss and making my way to the bakery near where me and Becca live. "Morning Stella" spoke Eduardo. "Eduardo! Good morning!" I replied. Eduardo Lucas owns the bakery. He is so gracious and courteous towards everyone he meets. He helped me and Becca a lot and still does to this day. He knows about me and Becca's struggles financially. After all I'm an unemployed 26 years old woman and Becca is working a part time job and going to college so economically we don't look very good. He offered me a job last month but back then I still had 4 bodyguard interviews to go to, so I told him I'd take his job offer if I didn't manage to get a job the month after, and if he didn't find someone more fit. To be honest I didn't think I'd have to work here but I guess I was wrong. "So, what can I do for you darling?" "I was just wondering about the job. If you found someone?" I asked. "Oh, dear I did. There's a 17 years old boy helping pay his single mother hospital bills and he came here looking for a job. So, I offered it to him" he said, and I couldn't help but smile. This man has the biggest heart ever. "I'm so sorry the interviews didn't work out" he said as I smiled shaking my head. "Don't be. You did the right thing Eduardo. I'm glad that boy got the job before me" I said truly meaning that. "I think you'd like him. He reminds me of you before serving in the military" he said smiling and I couldn't help but smile too. Good times... ish… After all I enlisted for a reason. "I'll make sure to come by when he starts working. Now how about three of your double chocolate muffins for your favorite customer?" "You got it. Who's the third one for though?" He asked. "Me. I'm going to need it after this day"
