1514 Words
On a dark and gloomy narrow street. The figure of a black-haired teenage boy was walking slowly in it while observing the surroundings. “The architectural style seems to be almost similar to that of Europe in the 19th century, but the massive city walls that are 100 meters high and the surrounding high-rise buildings are hardly in line with that era.” As William walked out of the abandoned building, he began to stroll down the streets of the city he remembered. He was a little surprised when he saw that the architecture in this world was almost similar to 19th century Europe on planet earth. “It's just that what distinguishes this world from my previous world is the mysterious power that awakened people can possess. Not only humans will have mysterious powers, but other races also have their own strengths.” Although these memories were obtained from the original owner of this body, but William knew that what this original owner knew was only the tip of the iceberg of this mysterious world. What was most shocking in those memories was that the human race was not the top of the food chain in this world. In this world of gods, there are many different races. Even though the human race wasn't the weakest, it didn't mean that the human race could be compared to strong races such as the dragon race, demon race, angel race, and monster race who had terrifying physical abilities from the moment they were born. “Even in this world it also has an elf race huh….” While thinking that, William subconsciously pinched his chin while imagining several humanoid races other than the human race. After William walked for a long time through the narrow lane, he did not lose his focus to observe the surroundings. Then after observing it carefully, William had some doubts in his heart. “This is strange… Why are there only middle-aged, elderly and children under 16 around here? Why are the teenagers almost nonexistent around here?” William somehow felt strange about the environment around here, he had even seen some of them have sad expressions plastered on their faces. “Could it be that the teenagers around here have been forced into the military? According to the memories held by the original owner, it seems that humanity is indeed under threat from other races living in this world.” "Ding!" Just as William was about to exit the dark alley he was in, he suddenly felt a slight vibration emanating from his trouser pocket. "Hmm?" With an expression full of curiosity, William put his hands in his trouser pockets. While taking out the object that was in his trouser pocket, he was suddenly astonished by what he was holding. The object that William was holding was one he knew very well. This object is a smartwatch, it is exactly like the smartwatch on earth. “I never thought that this world also has such advanced technology! Even though their architectural technology is not as sophisticated as on planet earth, it seems like other technologies are more sophisticated than planet earth.” William who had finished from his shocked state started to look at the smartwatch, then he saw that there was a clock timer and a digital messaging application. “Why does this smartwatch have a one hour countdown?” His intuition told William that the disappearance of the teenagers there was most likely due to the countdown on this smartwatch. Just as William was contemplating the connection between the countdown on his smartwatch and the disappearance of the teenagers who had been in the alley earlier. As William was contemplating the reason for the disappearance of the teenagers, he suddenly heard the sound of footsteps approaching this way. “Brother, where have you been? Why didn't you come home yesterday?" As William looked to the source of the sweet-sounding voice, he saw a young woman with blonde hair and blue eyes as beautiful as sapphire gems. If the young woman in front of him was born on planet earth, perhaps she would become a famous female artist. But sadly all of that was just a sweet wish that didn't come true, it was because the young lady moving this way in a wheelchair with a bag of delicious food in her arms. The girl held it tightly like she was holding a tiny baby, maybe the girl was afraid that the food in her palm would be snatched away by someone else. When William saw the young woman move here, the thoughts of his brain immediately rushed. William immediately knew that this young woman in front of him was the biological child of his adoptive parents. "Looks like I'll have to get used to my current identity so that others don't find that the owner of this body has changed owners." William only had to ponder the whole matter for a few seconds and immediately walked hastily towards the young woman and began to crouch in front of her. “Chiaki, why did you have to get out of the house? Didn't I tell you that it's not very safe outside?" When William finished saying that, he immediately began to carefully observe the young woman in front of him. What he didn't expect was that the young woman in front of him didn't look as malnourished as the people on the narrow street before. Even though Chiaki didn't have dry yellow skin due to lack of vegetables like the people William had seen before, but the young woman in front of her had a very pale complexion. It is like seeing a person who is sick but still has adequate nutrition. Drops! As William was observing his pale skin, he suddenly saw a teardrops on the young woman's knee. Hug! “I know that my brother will never die! Chiaki believes that my brother will never leave me alone!” The moment William was suddenly embraced by the young woman in front of him, he suddenly became flustered. But the confusion didn't last long after feeling his back wet with tears from the woman in front of him. William gently patted the young girl's back to calm her personal emotional state. “I'm sorry for making you worry… From now on, i promise to always come home no matter what happen to me!” William tried his best to calm the young girl in front of him. Even though he was unfamiliar with the young woman in front of him, all the hidden memories and emotions of the owner of this body had fused with him. To the owner of this original body, the existence of the young woman in front of him and her adoptive parents was like a warm light that appeared in a dark and cold environment. But unfortunately the adoptive parents of the original owner of this body still haven't returned from their duties in the outside world. When Chiaki heard the gentle words that came out of William's mouth, the young woman subconsciously wiped her teardrops and lifted the bag of food she had prepared for a long time. “Please eat this brother! This is the fish and chips sandwich I've made for you. Brother, you must finish the meal before the start of the Awakening ceremony in the town square.” Looking at the food bag in front of him, William didn't refuse at all and expressed his gratitude, “Thank you Chiaki! Don't worry about me, I'll definitely come back alive. I'll take you back home!" Hearing that, Chiaki immediately nodded his head and said, “Yes, I'll be waiting for you at home! Brother, please be careful when doing your first assignment! I heard from the experience of father and mother that the first task given by the kingdom relied on luck.” "Don't worry, I won't die so easily!" William could only nod his head as he pushed the wheelchair towards the house where the two lived together. After a while of walking together, the two of them were standing in front of the alleyway where the two lived together. “Brother, thank you for driving me all the way home!” With a warm smile plastered on her face, the young woman slowly closed the wooden door with her pale hand. Seeing that Chiaki was no longer here, the gentle expression on William's face immediately turned serious. “The Awakening ceremony in the town square? Was that the reason why all the teenagers in that place weren't there? And the youth who have awakened the ability will get the first task given by the kingdom itself? Was it the sad atmosphere that the previous small family had because of this?” With a serious expression, William started walking towards the town square that was in the memory of the original owner of this body. He walked over there with a fish sandwich in his mouth and french fries in his left hand.
