Chapter 4: "Shadows of the Past"
Lyra's mind reeled as she nodded, her heart racing with anticipation. She had always wondered what had really happened that fateful night, the night that had torn Julian's family apart.
They walked to a nearby park, the darkness enveloping them like a shroud. Julian's eyes seemed to gleam in the dim light, his voice low and husky.
"I've been investigating," he said, his words sending shivers down Lyra's spine. "I think your parents were involved in my family's death."
Lyra's world went dark. She had always suspected, but to hear Julian say it out loud was a different story altogether.
"Why would they do that?" Lyra asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
Julian's eyes locked onto hers. "I think it was about money, power, and control. Your parents wanted to take over my family's business empire."
Lyra felt like she was living in a nightmare. Her parents, capable of such evil?
"What do you plan to do?" Lyra asked, her heart racing with fear.
Julian's smile was cold, calculating. "I plan to make them pay, Lyra. And I need your help to do it."
Lyra hesitated, torn between loyalty and justice. But as she looked into Julian's eyes, she knew she had made her choice.
"I'm in," Lyra said, her voice firm.
Julian's smile grew wider, his eyes gleaming with triumph.
