Chapter 7 LUCIAN Nadia motioned for me to knock on the door. “Go on. You can do it.” “I can,” I whispered, my breath short with nervous tension. I raised my hand and knocked against the wooden surface, waiting, hoping, praying that Katerina didn’t slam the door in my face the moment she saw me. The door opened wide, and Katerina stood in front of us, her eyes widening as she gazed briefly at her sister then up at me. “You... you came?” “Yes,” I said, my heart beating hard and fast. Damn, she’s beautiful. She stood there, staring at me almost as if she expected something more. After a moment, her gaze shifted back to her sister, and she frowned. “O... kay?” Nadia nudged me. “May I come in so we can talk?” I asked, my heart pounding even louder in my ears with every passing second.
