A Travel for Punishment

“Ohh!You little poor thing, you are so little,do you have any food to eat?Or should I say did you find any food to eat?HAHAHAH”said little Aira to a little beggar kid who are just asking for a little consideration. “You are such a blessed kid unlike me but at least I have good manners and attitude which my mother thought me,unlike you”said the little beggar kid to Aira. Aira was so furious and angry at what the kid replied to her, she then gets the battle the little kid used to ask for a little money in the street and throw it to the other side of the street, and then she pushed the kid off the road. “Hey!Aira what are you doing with that kid?”Alonita said to Aira.It was Aira’s mother,unlike her child she has a kind heart,she helps the kid to get up and get those coins on the other side of the road and give it back to the kid. “Aira,what do you think you’re doing,did I raise you to become like that?My god,what is happening to you Aira?I am so sorry kid for what my daughter did,here is some money I hope it will help you find some food to eat.“Aira’s mother said to her and to the kid and then she pulls Aira to go back to the car. “Aira don’t do that again,you should be thankful for what you have and help those who are in need.” “Ohh!Here is my very kind mother who didn’t have any time to check if her daughter is all right,you didn’t even ask if it is really my fault”Aira responded to her mother trying to manipulate the situation but the mother knows that it’s her daughter fault,she witnesses it from the very start.It is her habit that when never they’re outside she always looks at her daughter,she just loves to do those but always felt disappointed afterward because of such attitude of her daughter. “How were my queen and princess doing? Where have you been?”it’s Aira’s father who just came back after talking to the worker in the gas station.He just buys gas that will be enough for the travel to her brother-in-law.They are planning to celebrate Aira’s birthday at her uncle’s house and to have a vacation too. “Are you both excited about this vacation?”he continued,but he notices that both his wife nor his daughter didn’t respond.So,he gets in the car and starts driving and asks them,“What happen to the both of you why are so silent?”.Her wife tells everything she saw and her daughter is still silent while making faces to her mother.“You shouldn’t do that,you know what they say,that what you did to others will come back to you,so,when you do bad things to others there’s a possibility that bad things will also happen to you,they call it Karma,so,darling please be good to others.”Aira’s father says.He was trying to lecture her daughter in a way that won’t feel like lecturing. Aira wasn’t interested in what her father’s telling her because whenever she did something it was the same dialog her father keeps on telling her every time,she did something they thought was bad whereas on her side it was just for fun. Aira was only 15 years old but she didn’t believe in any fairytale story,she thought that those are just made to scare the kids and they didn’t have a choice but to follow what their parents saying.She was a spoiled kid,her mother keeps and always lecturing her on how to be good to others but she always thought I can take care of myself in my own way.And she also thought that those threats her mother possess were just weakness.Too much kindness tends to be easily manipulated and she doesn’t want that kind of attitude. That day,was Aira’s 15th birthday and they planned to celebrate in her uncle’s house and stay there for a vacation,although Aira was just 15 years old she was more mature than her age but again because of her attitude she doesn’t have many friends. The trip would only last for 5 hours, so,they will get on there almost dinner. But along their trip it rained, it is really strong almost like a storm and it makes the road foggy, her father take more careful in driving because of the foggy road, it is not easy because he couldn’t really see the road so he really needs to drive extra careful for the safety of his family. He tried to see what her wife and daughter were doing, her wife was sleeping while her daughter was playing with her phone. He was thinking that this rain will stop sooner. But it didn’t stop. “Ohh it is raining, that’s why it is getting colder.” Her wife stated. His wife was already awake and his daughter was still busy playing with her phone. “How was your sleep?” he asks his wife. “It was a wonderful sleep, where are we?” “Will I think we are near, I just could literally figure out where are due to the fog.” He replied “Okay, well I think it is better if we stop a little and wait until we could see the road clearly again, it is not safe to drive in this state.” His wife suggested and he thinks that it is really better than to keep driving blindly. “Alright, I will just find a place to park safely.” He replied and unclip his seatbelt while he keeps on driving to find a place to safely park in the meantime. “Darling, baby I think you should take a rest” his wife unclips the seatbelt so she could face her daughter and talk to her. “Tsk, Mommy just live me alone ok! I am not tired.” Her daughter replied to her daughter. “Hey! Don’t talk to your mother like that,” he said to her daughter while facing her. Before he could even absorb what her daughter said, he hears the hysterical shout of her wife and see the terrified face of her daughter and see what was in front of them. It is like slow motion he sees everything the terrified faces of her wife and her daughter and the 10-wheeler truck in front of them and everything when black. Crash! Bang! Whack!BOOM! The car which Aira and her family were driving crashed with a ten-wheeler truck.Due to the force of the crash,her father was thrown outside the car and her mother was,half of her body was still inside the car while the other half was outside,while Aira who was wearing the seatbelt stays intact with her seat,she just has some bruises on her body and a big cut on her forehead due to the crashing. Aira was awake after the crash but she couldn’t really see and she felt like she doesn’t have any strength.She kept saying mom, dad but there was no voice coming. She was trying to unclip the seatbelt and wanted to see how was her mom and where is her dad but she can’t, she didn't have any strength. So, she stays still a little and rests her body so she could at least regain some of her strength, and after she tried again to unclip the seatbelt but she can’t it is as if it was designed to stay intact when this kind of situation happens. So, instead of trying to unclip the seatbelt she starts to see what are the condition of her parents, that’s when she sees that her mother was covered with blood, half of her body was outside the car and half was still inside. She felt horrified to see the condition of her mother, “She was losing so much blood” she taught. She tried to find her father but she can’t find him, she was crying, she was sobbing, and she can’t speak, all she can do now was cry and hope that her parents are going to be just fine. She tried to see her mother again and tried calling her, “Mom” almost in a whisper, she examines her mother and that’s when she saw that there was something in her chest that causes to flow so much blood, there was something in there that making her lost to much blood but she can’t figure it out, she keeps asking what is it?. While she was losing consciousness, the last thing she thought before falling into a deep sleep was that she hopes this is just a dream, and if it is a dream, she will do everything to change. She was just a kid and just like every kid out there she was also afraid to lose her parents. Aira losses her consciousness and later on the policies and ambulance came to rescue her and her family. The driver of the 10-wheeler truck survives, he has some bruises but it is not severe but still he was given medical care and transferred to the hospital for further examination. And while Aira and her family, were in bad condition, her father who was on the other side of the road because he was thrown due to the force of crashing, was declared by the nurses ‘dead on the spots’, on the other side her mother who was still in the car, the policies and nurses takes so much care and get her mother carefully because she was struck by a rain wiper. Because it is raining the rain swiper was on and during the crash, Aira’s mother didn’t wear a seatbelt, so when the crash happens, she was thrown outside and got stabbed in her chest with the rain wiper which makes her condition worst. According to the nurses she was losing so much blood, she needs to be transferred to the hospital to ensure her safety but the problem is, how can they get her in that situation, when according to the nurses because of too much blood she lost, they can successfully get her and bring her to the ambulance but she can’t make it to the hospital. In the end that’s what they did, they successfully both Aira and her mother in the ambulance and given medical treatment. While they are in the ambulance car and given medical care, one of the nurses’ shouts; “The kid was in a stable condition” But they started to get more apparatus and yelling stat! when the Electronic vital sign monitors start making sounds and showing flat lines on their screen. Aira’s mom was at her peak of leaving in this world. “She was losing too much blood” one of the nurses shouted. “Her heart was continuously betting slower. We have to get her in the hospital before it’s too late.” One of the nurses shouted too. They did everything to help Aira’s mother but they declare that she was dead on arrival. On her 15th year birthday, she lost both her mother and father who loves her so much. In her 15th year, she lost everything. In her 15th year, everything changes. In a blink of an I everything changes. “Aira my dear, don’t worry we will take care of you, me and your aunt will do everything so you won’t feel lonely, okay.” Uncle Jonathan was speaking while we are walking to my new room, to my new life. “Aira if you need anything just tell us OK, here this will be your room from now on.” My auntie Ellen said, but I remain silent, I’m just giving them a nod to tell them I understand everything they said. “Alright, I think it is better if you take some rest, will just call you when the dinner is ready.” My uncle said to me while patting my head, I don’t understand but it is comforting. “Aira, I know that it is not easy but what’s important is to rest ok, don’t think anything just rest, everything will be alright ok baby” my uncle continues saying before they both give me a kiss on my forehead, and leave. But before they leave, I hear them saying, “How unfortunate it is to her, she lost both her parents” I remember it’s been one week since the accident, they said my parents died and it is unfortunate, I don’t understand why. I get to see them a day before they buried, and I don’t know what should I feel or do, all of them was crying, I tried to cry but I can’t, so I just remain silent. Actually, one of them said that maybe I still don’t understand what’s going on because I am still a kid and I came from a traumatic accident. Hmm maybe because I totally don’t understand, why are they crying when my mom and dad were just sleeping? Will maybe I don’t really understand but I don’t care now that my parents were gone, I can do whatever I wanted, and no one will interfere in anything I would like to do. I will enjoy this trip before my mom and dad come back. That thought makes me smile “Hahahaha I’m excited! Maybe it is better to rest so I could have my strength back and I could play tomorrow” With that I lay on my bed and close my eyes. My Uncle Jonathan and Aunt Ellen didn’t have a child, they’ve tried many times but they can’t, and that’s why I am their baby girl, they always spoil me, and give me everything my parents didn’t give. “Aira, baby wake up it’s time to eat.” I heard a voice, so I opened my eyes and my aunt was there smiling but looking sad at me. I get up and give her a smile and we walk to the dining area. My room was on the second floor, if I am not mistaken, they have five rooms here. Each room has its own bathroom. When you enter my aunt’s house, the first thing you will see is their living room, it has a sofa and a table in the center and a tv. And when you continue walking it will lead you to the dining area. Their house was simple but elegant, I really like their house ever since. “Hello dear, come and set here” It’s my uncle, he preparing my plate and my aunt walks to her own seat. In the dining area, you will see a long table with 8 chairs, three on each side and two in front. My uncle sat in the front while my aunt’s seat was on the left side of my uncle and I am on his right side. They get me my food and put it on my plate and give it to me and I started eating, they also started eating. We eat in silence until my uncle spoke. “Aira we will be your guardian from now on, we will be your parents from now on, I know that it is hard to lost both your parents but we will do everything to support and love you.” my uncle said. “Why? Mom and Dad will be back uncle, they are just sleeping, so, you don’t have to worry but still, I would love to feel your support and love.” I said and continue “Hmm, by the way, uncle, when will Mom and Dad return here?” it is better if I know when they will return so that I will know how much time will I have to enjoy while they are still away. But I was shocked because they didn’t answer my questions instead, they started to cry. I don’t understand why are they crying, is it hard to answer when will my parents come back here? so I just remain silent, I’ll just wait for them. I continue eating, I didn’t ask anymore maybe they didn’t feel well. We didn’t talk after that incident, after I eat, I just get back to my room and sleep again, I am excited for tomorrow. I woke up full of energy, I didn’t know that I would be this excited, maybe because Mom wasn’t there to nag at me every time I did terribly in her sight. So, instead of thinking about those things, I’ll just take my shower and enjoy my first day being free. After I get myself ready, I am excited to find somebody to play with me, I even wear the dress my mom gives to me as a gift a day before we travel here. I am wearing a knee floral dress, it is a pink dress, I really like this dress. So, because of the excitement I am feeling, I run to find my uncle and aunt and let them know that I am going outside to play, which is very easy to do, I find them setting in the living area. I just shout to them that I am going outside to play and didn’t wait for their reply, because I know that they will let me go because I am their baby girl. After I run off, I am finally out, and the first thing that welcomes me is the fresh air, my uncle has a very huge garden with lots of flowers and different plants. Will my aunt is a plant lover and they have lots of gardeners here and sometimes they bring their children here. I am hoping to find a gardener child to play with. So, I started to walk slowly when I get out of my uncle’s house and started to find somebody, I really like this garden, especially in the rose house, it is a house but you could see what’s inside because it is transparent. My aunt used glass to build this house, it is really beautiful because it was full of roses of different colors, I walked inside to see the inside, to see those beautiful roses and in the center of the house you see that there is a swing which when you seat there you could enjoy the view of those roses, this is one of my favorite places in my uncle and aunt house. I seat in the swing and enjoy the view. Will I was enjoying the view I’ve seen somebody crawling, it is a kid, she was a girl, she was crawling in the direction where I came from earlier, ha! To the door, she was trying to escape, will I think I find somebody to play with? The roses were planted in the ground circling the swing, and there are also a table more likely stairs that also circles the planted roses in the ground, and she was crawling at the back of those stairs. I am walking towards her, I am trying my best to stop the laugh trying to escape from my mouth, she was crawling like a turtle hahaha, she thinks that I couldn't see her, will too bad I clearly see her. I am going to scare her, I turn around and walked towards her back to surprise her. “Wahh!” I shouted at her back, while laughing. “Ahhh!” she shouted. I really can’t hold my laugh anymore “HAHAHAHAHA, look at you, you look like you’ve seen a ghost" I said to her. “What do you think you are doing in here?” I continued to speak, she was trembling, maybe she was afraid because I caught her. “I am just checking the roses I didn’t intend to do anything bad,” she said. “Ohh, I don’t think you are doing something bad hahaha, but wouldn’t it be better if my auntie would think that you are trying to steal her flowers, you know how much she hates those who try to steal her things” I said, I think ill enjoy my stay here. “Please madam don’t do that, my mother may lose her job if you told your auntie something like that, please I’m begging,” she said. When never there is someone begging me, it always feels good. You know to see somebody that you are the only one they have to make a change, it is really satisfying. “Will let see!” I said, and I walked to the entrance, I am excited about how my aunt would react if somebody tries to steal her things hahaha. I know that she hates stealing but I never see her in person how she reacts. “Auntieee! I’ve seen somebody at your rose garden trying to steal your flowers and destroy them.” I told my aunt while running towards her, I find her on the balcony of her house, she was on the second floor so I shouted it, I tried to make it a little exaggerated to make her believe and the people who at that moment, there are some gardeners and a guard at that moment and I think they hear what I said. “What did you say? Wait for me there, I’ll come to you” my aunt said. “What happens?” my aunt said when she reached me. “There was some kid in your garden she was trying to steal your flowers and when I tried to stop her, she throws those pots of flowers at me." Will what would you expect, she was furious, she was almost like running to where the rose garden was located. And when we get there, we have seen the kid and I think it is her mother, she was crying, they are at the door of the garden, outside of the garden. “Ma’am I am so sorry, please, forgive what my daughter did, I promise ma’am that it will never happen again” The mother of the kid is begging my auntie to forgive them. “Will you don’t have to worry, I just came here to see what really happens” What? That's all she could say?. Will I think they are the same as my mother. “Will auntie, she was trying to steal your flowers just like what I said earlier, and she throw me those pots,” I said angrily, I can’t believe she said those things, I thought she will be angry. “Will maybe she has her reasons why she did those things, right darling?” she said while facing that brat. “Ma’am I have never tried to steal your flowers and never ever thrown those pots at your nephew, I was just trying to watch those flowers because they are so beautiful, that’s all I wanted to do” the kid said to my auntie. Auntie Ellen tries to check the garden, will I forget to destroy some pots, tsk! “Will I think this is just a misunderstanding, will you can come here anytime you want dear, so I think everything is fine, will I have to go I still have something to do.” She said and she give her goodbyes and leave. I am really angry right now. “I also have to go, I still have some work to finish” the mother of the kid stated before leaving. Now we are the only ones who are here, and she is smiling, how irritating it is. “Why are smiling, do you think everything is fine, remember this, while I am still here, I will always do everything to make you and Mother suffer.” I said, I am really angry, I just can’t believe that it would be just like this, I was thinking that her mother would lose her job, and they will beg till my auntie let them work again. “Why are you like that? Why do you hate me so much, I never than anything bad to you?” she said. “Well let’s just say that I don’t like your existence, so you better be careful” “I know that it is hard especially when you lost someone special, but everything will be just fine” she said and I don’t understand her. “What are you talking about” “I also lost my father, and I know how much it hurts. Your mom and dad were in heaven still watching you, so don’t be sad” she said,how could she tell me that I lost my parents, they were just in vacation. “Ha!I never lost my parents, they were on vacation, you lost your father because you are poor, that is why your father is dead because you didn’t have any money. Stop talking that nonsense”I said,actually I am shouting. “How could you tell me those things, how could you tell those things with my father”I was taken aback, she was shouting too, and will she was angry.And she continues. “Just like you,I also lost my father in an accident, he was dead on arrival, and he didn’t have given a chance to fight for his life because he was dead already,just like parents,you also lost them in an accident.Do you think that they will come, will just make a wish and hope that a fairy will hear you and your wish come true but I doubt that,with your personality,with your bad attitude, even the frogs won’t hear you.” She said, I don’t know but everything happen on that day came to me,it is slowly coming back to me,and I feel afraid. “Can you shout up, I don’t know what your talking.”I said, I am trying my best so she won’t see that I am trembling that time.I am hoping that she will stop because I don’t want to hear anything from her again. “I think you lost your parents because you are a bad daughter, your parents died because of you!” she shouted to me and I can’t hold it anymore, so I cried, I have so many questions at that time but I can’t, I felt again, I lost my strength again, I can’t speak just like what I felt and done during that accident. “Hey! What are you doing, why are saying that to my nephew!” it is my uncle, he was really angry. “Hey! Come here, darling. hoosh” He put his hands on my shoulder and he was trying to stop me from crying. “What’s happening why is Aira crying” I didn’t even notice that my aunt was also there. Both of them are trying their best to stop me from crying but I can’t. So, my uncle guides me to bring me inside the house while holding my shoulder still. And when we get there, I am still crying, I am really afraid to know the truth about my family, about what really happened that night. I am afraid to know that there is a possibility that what the kid said is right, that I really lost my parents, that they will never be coming back. “Uncle,Auntie, where are my mom and dad?”that’s the first question that I really wanted to know, where are they?I hope they are all right,I hope they will come back to me. But the fair that I am feeling it get more because my uncle and auntie was crying after I ask those question.Maybe I am 15years old but I think I deserve to know what happen. “Darling,I know that you think that your parents are on vacation and they will still come back here, it is because of Dissociative amnesia,you came from a traumatic accident darling,that is why you didn’t remember some events.So, that is why you can’t totally remember what happened that night,you lost your parents that night darling,they died in that accident they will never come back to us.”My auntie explains to me,she was crying and I know she was hurting or maybe I don’t. “But don’t worry darling even though your parents aren’t here,we are still here we are going to take care of you,we will love you as if you are our child,our daughter.”My uncle stated,I know that they love me but I want my parents. “No!I want them,please bring them back uncle,please bring them back.”I was totally breaking down,I cried all night until I fall asleep. I remember what happened that night,if they didn’t turn their head towards me, maybe if I just listen to them that I should take a rest,maybe if I am just an obedient kid then they won’t die that night,maybe they won’t leave me behind and they are still here at my side, telling me how they meet and feel in love to one another,how they conquer those trials,maybe I could still listen those boring love story of them that I missed too much.Maybe we are going to a shopping mall which my mother loves to do,she loves to see me trying on those dresses,she loves to see me,but I don’t like those smiles of her,that time I don’t like hanging around with her,that time I don’t like her taste when it comes to dressing but now,I missed it too much.That kid was right it was all my fault because of me they are gone,because of me I will never see them again,it is all because of me.I hope this is just a nightmare,that when I wake up everything will be back the way it was,when I wake they are still alive,they are still there.
