Chapter Five There was a phenomenon called phantom limb. It was where an amputee felt as though their lost limb was still attached. An itch in a foot that was no longer there. An ache in a wrist where the forearm was gone. Long moments after he’d broken the kiss that pronounced them man and wife, Spinelli could still feel the warm pressure of Romey's mouth upon his lips. The kiss had been fleeting, but in the all too short space in time that he’d been joined with her at the mouth, he had memorized the curve of her top lip.
