It was yet another nightmare and Victoria sprang up from her bed with her eyes wide open like she'd seen a ghost.
For years, she had had the same nightmare over and over again. It deprived her of sleep and she wished she could see an end to it.
Most nights before she'd go to bed, she'd head over to her drawer, just beside her bed, pick up a few sleeping pills and swallow them, hoping it'll help her sleep more soundly. It never worked.
"Damn it!" She cursed, rubbing her hair as she sat up and turned to see if anyone was beside her. No one was there, just as she had expected.
"This man never rests," she hissed. "Always out there with his friends drinking his life out!"
Ever since she returned to him, Kevin developed a habit of staying out late and coming back home very drunk. Sometimes, he ended up returning the next day after spending the night in the bar and there was nothing I could do about it. Well, without having to pay for it with pain.
"I need you to hand this document over to Run corporation tomorrow. Ensure you don't get there late. Else, you may end up being late yourself, by my hands."
Those were Kevin's words before he left the house the previous day. Victoria knew for sure that he didn't mean that. She also knew that although he wasn't going to kill her, he was surely going to do something very close to that and she didn't want that.
She stood from her bed and rushed to the bathroom to have her bath. The company was in another city and she had to get there by flight. Thankfully, the children went camping so she didn't have to make breakfast or anything.
She quickly put on a yellow silk dress as she got out of the bathroom, packed my hair with a black ribbon and off she went to her car. She took a look at her watch as she got into the car. She was running late. She had just about fifteen minutes to get there.
Thankfully, things went as planned and in a short time, she was already on her way. Her return flight was already booked and all she had to do was get on the plane and fly home.
As the plane took off, Victoria had only one thing on her mind; her children. They had only been gone for a while but she missed them so much. She missed having them both sit on her laps even though they were heavy. She missed having to stroke their hair and tell not-so-funny jokes to them.
"Ahhhh!"
Victoria gasped as she felt some movement in the plane. "Be calm everyone," one of the pilots said to the passengers. "We've been hit by a snowstorm. We'll have to land at the nearest airport."
In a few minutes, the plane landed and everyone got down with their faces bowed in disappointment. Victoria looked around and saw that they were in a small, remote airport. She narrowed her brows in frustration as she spat on the floor.
She walked to a bench, wearing her favourite heavy jacket which she thoughtfully decided to bring along for the trip, and sat on a bench far from where everyone else was.
She stared at the skies full of anger as she knew what lay ahead. It was the full moon tonight and although she had great control of her shifting; a feat only a few wolves could boast of, there was a need to keep alert just to make sure there was no triggering it.
"Could there be an end to this horrible blizzard?"
********
A few minutes later, another luxurious jet landed at the same airport due to the snowstorm and all passengers had to alight.
Among them were five men who wore sky-blue suits and neatly polished black shoes with the man in the middle wearing black shades. They smiled as they walked down, enjoying their conversation like they didn't care about the delay. Perhaps, they didn't.
"King's just out of this world," one of the men said to another. "How could he forget his date's face? Who does that?"
"Hey, I'm here. Don't talk to me like I'm invisible," King protested, baring his arms as they kept walking down. "It's not my fault. It's not like I know when these things happen."
"That's how you make these girls feel too, man," another guy taunted as they all broke into laughter. "You make them feel invisible. How long would you keep doing that, man?"
King Bush, the CEO of the Bush Group was a very handsome man admired by a lot of women. What they didn't know was that he had a condition known as prosopagnosia, which prevented him from recognising people's faces. Surprisingly, it only happened with women.
Upset by the weather and the delay that he experienced, King Bush ignored their taunts. He was in no mood to trade any sort of banters with them. Instead, he walked toward the bathroom to get refreshed.
Then he paused a bit, spotting a girl wearing a thick sweater and cuddled up on the bench all alone. It seemed unusual to him as people usually loved to stay together in situations like that. He wondered why she was so far away from everyone else and decided to check if she needed any form of help. King was never a man to turn down a chance to help others.
But as he walked toward her, she quickly stood and ran to the bathroom like a frightened bird.
"Who is this girl?"
Upset by the weather, King ignored his friends' taunt, going towards the bathroom to refresh himself. Then he saw a girl cuddling up on the bench, alone. The kind King decided to check if she needed help. But the minute he walked toward her, she ran to the bathroom like a frightened bird
