It's been a long time since I've ever felt truly alone. Scratch that, Maddy has always been by my side, so this is the first time.
While she, Wyatt, and Ronan went off to visit another pack, I was alone. I tried to hang out with my old friends from school, but it didn't feel the same as being with my group. The girls were superficial and immature and it took me this long to realize it.
Maybe I just didn't care while I was in school. Maybe it just made me feel wanted since I was always insecure about being a late bloomer. But when Ronan poked his head into my bedroom as soon as he got back, I threw myself at him, with my throat tight with emotion.
I wrapped my legs around his hard torso and clung to him like a baby koala as he laughed at me.
