A Triumph and a Revelation

RUBY'S POV 's**t, s**t, s**t!' I thought as I raced through the still busy bar. Men oggled me, I knew my breasts were all but tumbling out of my dress and that they would all want a dance if they could have one. 'Not tonight, never again.' Bursting into the dressing room I pulled the dress over my head and pulled my skirt up over my bottom looking around for my shirt. In my hurry I hadn't seen Dave lurking in the corner until I felt his eyes on me. 'You nasty little s**t. Where do you think you're going? You have another 3 hours left. If that woman is bored of you then let the men out there have their turn.' he sneered at me as I rushed to button my shirt. Shaking my head, I lifted my bag from the dressing table. I felt him move closer to me and I froze. Afraid of what he would do next. Drake, Alvin and Millie burst in through the dressing room door before he managed to touch me. 'The s**t's posse here to protect her. Get your asses back in there or you're all fired.' he snarled. Spitting as he spoke. He made me so angry, I wanted to lash out and hit him. My body turned before I could stop myself and the voice that came from my mouth was one I hadn't heard before. 'YOU WILL NOT TOUCH ME.' I yelled, venom in my voice. I felt stronger in that moment than I ever remember feeling in my life. 'And you will not fire them. As for the 3 hours left of my shift, you can shove them up your arse. You go and dance for the men, see how you like it.' I stood tall and squared my shoulders to him. 'I quit Dave, and I expect my wages to have my cut of the £10,000 that was paid for me tonight. If not, I will make sure that everyone knows what a sleazy, lecherous c**t you are. Including your lovely wife.' Millie looked so proud as I walked past her and the boys out into the bar again. She wrapped her arms around my waist and hugged me tight. I stopped and turned round, hugging her back. 'You go girl.' she said in my ear. She pulled back and put her hands on my face. 'I'm so proud of you Rubes.' Alvin and Drake wrapped the two of us in a hug and reiterated Millie's words. 'Are you coming to mine tonight Millie?' she shook her head and wiped her eyes. 'I'm not angry with you Millie, you didn't know your lazy ass would cause Dave to f**k me over like this but it's OK. It's good.I don't need this job anymore and I can book my ticket and travel now.' I wiped her cheek and kissed her forehead. Don't blame yourself, and you two don't blame her either. She's just an idiot.' I smiled and glanced at Drake and Alvin, who were looking a little sheepish. They nodded and rubbed Millie's shoulder. I knew Drake would have lost his s**t with her and could watch her body relax following this small gesture. 'You sure you don't want to stay tonight?' I asked. Millie shook her head. 'I've got to look after myself Ruby, if you're going to leave us. You'll say goodbye before you leave, won't you?' she asked with a half smile. 'I'll call you in the morning you silly goose!' I laughed. We all hugged again and I walked back towards the VIP room with a skip in my step and feeling lighter than I had in many years. I don't know why, but I felt that Ebony, this beautiful, mysterious stranger, was going to help me find the answers I needed; and she was going to be a very beautiful sight to see a long the way. EBONY'S POV When she returned, my mate looked flushed and her scent was mixed with that of the barmaid and the two bar men. She was just as stunning in her bar uniform, her short skirt exposing her thick thighs and strong calves. Aurora howled and I longed to touch her, to feel her legs wrapped around me. 'You look beautiful angel.' I said, and her face beamed. 'Do you mind if I drive?' she asked. Her voice like music to my ears. I shook my head and offered her my hand. She grasped it with no hesitation and locked her fingers with mine. The sparks that shot through me at this prolonged touch were enough to make my knees buckle and I had to stumble to keep up with her as she walked out the door. •Someone's got it bad babe. I've never known you lose your footing.• Aurora laughed at me and it made me smile. It was so lovely to feel her happy and excited for a change. The pain and turmoil we had felt since we met when I turned 18 and we could not find our mate, until now more than 350 years later when we had her, her hand clasped tightly in mine. I felt whole. I knew my brother would feel this too. He needed it more than I did. Our angel would save us, I just knew it. Ruby guided me towards the dressing room, out through a fire exit and down some steps towards the back car park of the building. The night air was cool and the breeze most welcome after the stale air in the bar. The scent of her friends was blown away and Ruby's scent was blown into my face and my n*****s hardened. •Goddess be kind. Mate needs me to be patient. Please don't tempt me like this.• Aurora prayed loudly to the goddess and I giggled. Ruby stopped at the bottom of the steps and her smile caught me off guard. 'That is my new favourite sound.' she said shyly and her face blushed. It made me giggle more. I was so surprised I couldn't stop. I hadn't giggled in years and now it was all I wanted to do. I would do anything in the world, if it made her smile. She pulled me towards her and what I realized was her busted yellow truck. 'This is the first thing we need to sort.' I thought, fearing for my life and hers as we climbed in and the engine roared to life. She pulled out smoothly and turned the radio on. Some nonsense music played low and we drove through the city towards the outskirts, the comfortable quiet pleasing me. Every now and then she would look at me and smile. My eyes never left her face as she drove and her hand had found mine again when we had driven on the motorway. She hummed a long to a song that came on when we started down a country road and the static on the radio interfered and went silent. 'Please sing.' I whispered. She stopped humming and I could hear her heart beating fasted before she took a deep breath and began to sing. You got a fast car I want a ticket to anywhere Maybe we make a deal Maybe together we can get somewhere Any place is better Starting from zero, got nothing to lose Maybe we'll make something Me, myself, I got nothing to prove You got a fast car I got a plan to get us out of here I been working at the convenience store Managed to save just a little bit of money Won't have to drive too far Just 'cross the border and into the city You and I can both get jobs And finally see what it means to be living See, my old man's got a problem He lives with the bottle, that's the way it is He says his body's too old for working His body's too young to look like his My mama went off and left him She wanted more from life than he could give I said, somebody's got to take care of him So I quit school and that's what I did You got a fast car Is it fast enough so we can fly away? We gotta make a decision Leave tonight or live and die this way So I remember we were driving, driving in your car Speed so fast, I felt like I was drunk City lights lay out before us And your arm felt nice wrapped 'round my shoulder And I-I, had a feeling that I belonged I-I had a feeling I could be someone, be someone, be someone You got a fast car We go cruising to entertain ourselves You still ain't got a job And I work in a market as a checkout girl I know things will get better You'll find work and I'll get promoted We'll move out of the shelter Buy a bigger house and live in the suburbs So I remember when we were driving, driving in your car Speed so fast, I felt like I was drunk City lights lay out before us And your arm felt nice wrapped 'round my shoulder And I-I, had a feeling that I belonged I-I had a feeling I could be someone, be someone, be someone 'You are an angel in disguise Ruby.' I said softly when she had finished. 'My name is Rowa.' she whispered and the car came to a halt. 'Rowa.' Her name rolled off my tongue. 'Beautiful and unique, just like you are.' Somewhere in the back of my head I recognized the name but I couldn't concentrate on that at that moment. My love had let go of my hand and climbed out of the truck. I followed suit and she met me at the front of the truck. She looked shy and tucked her hair behind her ear. Her heart rate spiked again as I moved closer to her. 'Forgive me.' I whispered. Her eyes met mine and she looked confused. I stepped towards her, closer still, our noses a mere inch apart. 'I'm going to kiss you Rowa.' I would swear her brown eyes glowed in that moment as she smiled a tiny smile. I put my left hand gently on her cheek and she leaned into my palm. I placed my right hand on her hip and pulled her body flush into mine. My nose rubbed gently against hers and our lips brushed softly. It felt divine. Every ounce of restraint I had was being used to stop me from laying her on the bonnet of her truck and tasting her. She deepened our kiss and her tongue licked teasingly at my top lip. WOOF WOOF WOOF I could have screamed when she pulled away from me. 'Oh for god's sake Toto.' she muttered under her breath. 'Come on.' she smiled and pulled me towards the old run down cottage. 'Let's go inside.' She didn't have to ask me twice.
