A Royal Daddy’s Girl

EBONY's POV The conversation with my father would have been amusing had it not been so serious. He was speechless. The King of the Supernatural Multiverse was never short of words. 'I need help Daddy, I don't know how to tell her, how to not scare her. She will have so many questions that I don't have answers to. Why has she no beast? Surely, given what she is, her lineage, she should have met her by now? Who is working against the moon goddess and succeeding? How are they keeping her beast from her?' I asked. After a few moments of silence he responded and I hated his words. 'I think your mother may have something to do with it. She is the only one I know of who could be powerful enough.' I could hear him pacing, Aurora howled, knowing that if my mother was responsible for what was happening to Rowa, for knowing of her existence and not letting my father know, she would have to be punished. 'Daddy no. It can't be her.' I whispered. Dread filled my body as the laws I learned as a mere child ran through my head. 'The moon goddess wouldn't, she wouldn't put mother through that?' 'Perhaps not, child. Leave your mother to me. I won't do anything rash, but I must discuss this with her. Do not rush your mate, but you need to start to tell her who you are. You have six more days before you promised your brother you would bring her. Use them well. The mother makes no mistakes, have faith. Pray. Let your beast guide you. She has access to the mother and she will help you.' he spoke as my father and not as the King. I loved him for it, I needed my father to be my father now. 'Thank you Daddy. I miss you.' I whispered, knowing that it wasn't appropriate for us to speak this way. I was nearly 400 years old, I shouldn't need my father like this in the eyes of the people we serve. Despite the assumption that the people of the kingdom serve it and us, nothing could be farther from the truth. It is our job to serve them, to make sure they are safe, that their economy does not falter, that the many kingdoms in the Supernatural Multiverse do not fall into poverty, famine or war. 'I miss you too my pup. As does your brother. If you can, let your mate know about him. Perhaps they could meet, video call or something. He is stronger right now than he has for the last 50 years and has managed to subdue his beast. The truck you are sending will help a lot I believe, but, if he could see her, I believe you would be able to help him prepare for her.' My father asked a lot of me in my life, and right now I felt like given what he had to confront my mother with, this was the least I could do. My brother was to be King, and soon. My father needed him to be ready. He was tired. He wanted to retire and this was the least I could do to help him achieve that. It wasn't my brother's fault that he got the wilder beast, I knew that if it was the other way around, he would do the same for me. 'I can do that, Daddy. She is magnificent. I can't wait for you to meet her. You'll love her.' I gushed, which was very unlike me. He laughed, his deep booming laugh. 'I already do child. I feel the difference she has made in you in a mere day, and to your brother, despite being so far away. Go now, you need to rest. And let your beast out. She is restless. Sleep well Princess.' I chuffed, he knew I hated being called Princess. 'Goodnight Daddy.' I hung up and pulled Rowa closer to me, spooning her on the sofa and listened to her breathing, taking in her scent and letting Aurora come forward to let her have some time with her. Given Rowa had no beast that we knew of for Aurora to connect to, she was as much in love with the human element of Rowa as I was. She needed and deserved her too. KING ANSEL's POV I took a deep breath to prepare myself to confront my mate. In the more than 4 centuries we had been together, I had never kept a single thing from her. I knew she had a secret but I would never have believed that it had to do with something as important as the Lost and so, the entire safety of the Supernatural Multiverse. I was hurting and my beast was raging in my mind, both at me for what I may have to do and her for putting us in this situation. Before I could link her to get her to come to me she appeared. ‘Dia, I have asked you not to do that!’ I said, cross that she had materialised before me for the first time in more than a decade. ‘You know Ansel, don’t you. I can feel the torment in you.’ Her voice was sad and her eyes showed fear. I nodded and took her hand. I sat in my chair behind my desk and she curled up on my lap. Her raven hair, just like our daughters was long and sleek down her back. Her caramel skin glowed and her bright sapphire eyes pierced mine. She was as beautiful now as the day I met her. I prayed to the goddess I wouldn’t have to punish her, but I could feel her fear through our bond and my beast howled. ‘Tell me what you have done my love.’ I demanded and she sighed and snuggled into my chest and played with my beard. ‘I don’t know where to begin.’ She whispered. ‘Let me show you.’ My eyes widened and my mouth popped open, I hated when she used her magic on me but I knew it was the best way for me to see how events played out and be able to feel the situation she had been in at the time. Her index finger came towards my forehead and I closed my eyes and took a deep breath to prepare myself for whatever I was about to experience. My beast howled and fought against me. He suffered like a caged animal when Dia took me into her mind and I knew I would pay for it later.
