"Mom, Ava's heat has just ended or ended early. We're not quite sure. So, there may not even be any pups. Since it just ended, we haven't had a chance to confirm," I explained to my mother, trying to keep the conversation gentle.
I sensed that Ava was uncomfortable, and I didn't want my mom to make her feel more uneasy.
