Epilogue Two weeks later, Dace walked into the squad room at the State Patrol offices. “Have you seen the new bumper sticker?” she asked Joe Bob. “What’s that?” “Happiness is a thousand Okies headed south with a Texan under each arm.” Joe Bob rolled his eyes. “Not you too.” Dace laughed. It made Kitka smile more than the bumper sticker. He still was being teased about the rescue hug — hell the whole rescue drive — that some television station had caught and broadcast.
