Palak woke up, she had spent the night in Katie's room stretched out on her couch. Katie had not slept soundly, her night had been disturbed with bad dreams just as it had when they had been young together. Palak was determined to make it better for her somehow. She thought that slaying her real monster would be a good start to bring her peace again.
"Are you asleep, Deedee?" Palak asked, "The cockerel has crowed and Matron will make us do lines if we miss breakfast."
"I've missed you Palak" Katie said with a laugh in her voice as she threw a pillow at her, "Do you want to shower first?"
"No, you go ahead. I'll pop the tea on."
Katie got out of bed and headed towards her en-suite. Palak made the tea. When Katie was finished showering and dressing, they both sat and drank their tea. Palak thought about not saying anything further. Katie looked happy after such a disturbed night but she knew she couldn't leave it.
"I should meet the girl, see if I could get any more details that would help."
"You can meet Sarah, but there is no more detail to be gained."
They both headed to the dining hall.
Once there Palak quickly spotted Sarah who was sitting next to a well developed older girl. She looked just like Katie had at the same age. The same innocent Disney princess face. Palak was drawn to the girl and automatically went to sit on the pupil benches just as she had when she was a school girl. Katie caught her just in time, bringing her back to the here and now.
"Sarah, Shona this is my good friend Miss Archarya."
Palak reached her hand across the table and shook Sarah's hand. The simple touch provided Palak with all the confirmation she required. Katie was right, there was no more information to be collected from the girl.
"We should really take our seats" Katie said, gesturing towards the staff table.
Palak and Katie headed towards the staff table where they both took their seats.
