Once Sarah was ready, Katie explained that she had been turned.  She explained that she could help her to come to terms with this and to deal with the trauma.  However, due to Sarah's age she couldn't let Sarah decide how she wanted to progress.  Sarah was only 14 years old! This was the year of emergence in the turned. Sarah had to come with her. She had to come to a place where she could be help. Katie knew that in a way this added to the trauma that Sarah had experienced, taking her away from her family, but that was one of the Turned laws and it was really for her own safety. During Emergence, your whole body goes through new changes, your ageing slows, your cognitive and physical abilities are heightened and if you are a special then your gifts begin to manifest. All turned children attended a boarding school from around the age of 14 until they were 18.       Katie suggested that they visit her Mum first, so that Katie can help Sarah to tell her Mum some of her story and explain that she would be going away for a bit.  Sarah opened her house door and shouted, "Mum". A thin woman in her early forties appeared. She looked at her daughter and the young woman standing beside her, "Sarah," she questioned, "Who is this?" "Hi, Mrs Morrison" Katie said with her hand out-stretched, "My name is Katie Smith, I'm a trauma counsellor who is currently attached to the Riverside Surgery". Sarah's Mum gestured towards the sitting room.  They all sat down and Katie helped Sarah tell her story. Katie explained that it was actually very unlikely that Sarah was pregnant, but that she had requested that her urine sample was rushed through the labs.  She explained that it was more likely that the trauma of the event had caused Sarah to miss her period. She explained that it would be of benefit for Sarah to receive some treatment at a Residential Treatment Centre.  Sarah's Mum agreed and Sarah packed some of her belongings.   A black car with tinted windows appeared outside Sarah's house.  Katie shouted up to Sarah, "That's the car." Katie shook Sarah's Mum's hand and smiled, "It was lovely to meet you Mrs Morrison, though awful circumstances.  We will inform you when we arrive and give you regular updates on Sarah's progress, however she will only be able to talk to you herself once a week and we do not encourage visits." With that Katie gripped Sarah's arm and guided her to the car.
