Tea

400 Words
Katie walked quickly after Sarah, as she caught up to her she could see that she was upset. "Oh, hi there" Katie casually said, looking at Sarah's face, "Oh my, you look like you're having a bad day. Why don't you come and sit with me for a bit?"  Katie pointed towards the counsellor's office. Sarah hesitated and then walked in the direction Katie was pointing. Katie opened the door and gestured towards the comfy chairs.  "Sit down, do you want a cup of tea?" Katie said with a smile, "I always think everything is easier to tackle with a cup of tea". "Ok" Katie walked over to the kitchenette in the corner of the counsellor's office. "How do you take it?" "Just milk" Katie made the tea and brought it over to the coffee table.  She sat down across from Sarah and picked up one of the mugs. She sipped and waited. Sarah took a deep mouthful.   "So, do you want to talk about it?" "I think I'm pregnant" "Ok, do you want to tell me more." Sarah sniffed, she was holding back tears, "I was drunk" "Mmm...Ok" "I don't know what happened, I passed out.... when I woke up, my clothes were all messed up and I was sore." "When did it happen?" "Last month." "I was missing for 2 days. My mum was so mad." "You said you were sore, can you tell me more about that?" "Well, I was sore, you know...down there and I had these strange bite marks over me. I don't really want to talk about this." Sarah broke off sobbing. "Ok, I understand. This has been very traumatic for you. Talking to someone about it is good though. I am so sorry this happened to you.  I know that not thinking about it might seem like the best way to deal with it, especially when you don't remember everything but when we have experienced trauma, it surfaces at some point. I am also really sorry to have to tell you this, but I think he did more than r**e you Sarah." Sarah covered her ears at the word r**e, she didn't want to hear it. She wasn't ready to process that she had been hurt in this way.  She wanted to pretend that she had just passed out or to believe the story she had told her doctor.  She didn't want her first time to have been tainted. Tainted with the fog of alcohol and the complete unknown. She broke down in tears.
