CHAPTER ONE: HOW IT ALL BEGAN
CHAPTER ONE
HOW IT ALL BEGAN
Location : New York
Setting: A large and luxurious room in the middle of nowhere
ZINA
It was evening time and I didn’t even have the strength to go downstairs for dinner. I had been called down previously but I didn’t even react or answer the call. I could feel my palms getting softer and I could only attribute that to one thing and one thing alone.
I heaved a long sigh as I stood up slowly and advanced towards the gigantic standing mirror that was occupying my room.
I took a glance at my room for the umpteenth time and I couldn’t help but sigh once again.
My room was really gigantic and it contained everything a normal person could ever want, anything, but the thing was that I wasn’t and would never be a normal person.
I have always wished and prayed for a normal life. The wish was something I knew deep in my mind could never come through. I had long given up hope after the first few hundred years of hoping and I had surrendered to my fate.
I am sure you will be puzzled by what I just said but you heard me right when I said hundreds.
You see, I am and will always be A VAMPIRE
Yes, I said it.
I am a vampire, and a 300-year-old one at that.
Time had always seemed to pass slowly for me as I watched the world constantly change and advance while I remained the same, a constant stain on time. At times I get so bored and tired that I just want to end my life, but we all know it is not possible for me to do so. I had detached myself from the world, my family as well as my own life, as I felt that there was no point to anything.
We never go out during the day because we don’t want to be exposed or caught due to our extremely pale skin and blood red eyes. I never cared anyways, as I was one to never go out anyway.
I had a power my family was not aware of and that was the power to enter my dream or anyone else’s dreams. When I say enter, I mean fully like my body, mind and soul and that in itself was scary.
Sometimes, I felt I could pass like the boogeyman with my sharp fangs and red eyes while I creeped into people’s dreams. I wasn’t one for all those shenanigans though, as I wasn’t bored to that extent.
As I was in my words of thoughts, my sister suddenly barged in and tugged at my arm. That was enough to make me realize I was standing in front of the mirror while I was lost in thoughts.
" Zina! How long are you going to keep us all waiting? We have been waiting for you in the dining room for a while now. What are you thinking about?", Ashley, my sister asked
She stared straight at me trying to get in my head, but I shook my head, knowing that her efforts were futile.
She had always been able to read everyone’s thoughts except mine and I knew that it really bugged her no matter how chilled she tried to act.
The reason was still unknown but I wasn’t complaining as no one wanted their minds to be invaded every second. I had long summed up the situation as me being special and that made me somewhat content.
"I wasn’t thinking about anything in particular, sis…. I guess I am just not hungry. Plus, can you stop trying to get into my head when you know you can’t?", I replied ..
Having said that, I walked towards my walk-in closet, totally ignoring her stares. I rummaged through all my designer clothes till I was finally able to find a gown that I liked. It was a short blue chiffon gown that had diamonds scattered in the shape of flowers on it.
Once I had put it on, I couldn’t help but glance in the mirror multiple times. The dress really fit me snuggly and really enunciated all my curves. I looked at all the perfectness on my body without being moved at all.
I picked up the brush on my dresser and motioned for Ashley to help me with my shiny black straight beautiful hair.
She came closer to me while I sat down in front of the mirror and began brushing my hair. She kept staring at me through the mirror and I couldn’t help but ask what was wrong.
"Why do you keep staring at me sis?", I voiced shyly.
"Nothing… I just wonder when you will meet your mate. It is all...",She whispered'
'I will meet my mate when the right time comes'', I chipped in.
Trust me, I didn't say that with any bit of confidence.
"You are such a strong child, Zina, you are very promising and I am the luckiest person to have a sister like you '',She voiced
"'I love you so much Ashley ..I don't know how I would have felt without you in my life as my sister", I sincerely said.
I put myself in her arms as we hugged for a while .
" Come on now dear..mom must be so worried now..let's go and have dinner.Tonight is a full moon..hope you are prepared?",She voices with mixed expression.
I flashed my eyes and gave her a little smile.
I sighed
"Sure I am..Let's go now",.
We walked out of my room and went downstairs for dinner.I had a very shining skin far different from my sister and i will simply say that I was so different from my family .My eyes were brown and I had a very nice body that matched my tall legs .My eyes would turn blue whenever I would meet the love of my life .sometimes I wonder why I had too much different features yet there wasn't any happiness in my life yet.It felt so dark in my heart.
