"It's been so hectic throughout this week!" I said to myself as I yawned. "I can't believe we have come to the end of the week so fast!" I added. I was feeling sleepy, but I still had work to do.
I slowly went through my emails. I haven't been able to go through them throughout the week. There wasn't much, just emails on subscription to a site or registration confirmation and some bunch of rubbish.
"This is why I don't go through my emails! What was I expecting?" I said aloud, about to shut down the app when something caught my eyes. It was sent three days ago.
"Why was this sent to me?" I wondered as I quickly went through it.
"This is meant for Substitute Bride, not me!" I said aloud. I sent a reply to inform the sender of who had received the mail and who they were supposed to send it to and also made sure to apologize for the late response.
As I stood up from my little reading corner, I decided to call Mary to inform her of this. Who would have changed the department email address to mine? My email address isn't something that the department or potential customers ought to have.
"I need to change my email address," I said as I dialed Mary's number. She picked after the second ring.
"Hey! Don't you know what the time says?" She said, sounding pissed. She is always pissed, holy goddess knows who offended her.
"Sorry ma, I just need to inform you of what just happened," I said to her.
"And what just happened? Aren't you living with your parents? Why are you informing me of what happened to you?" She said harshly. Can this woman just calm her nerves for a few minutes? Jeez!
"This is about work, Mary, not about my personal life. I wouldn't call you to inform you about my personal life and what goes on around here. I am not dumb, Mary, at least I…" I was talking when she cut me rudely.
"Good to know you are not dumb, I thought you were dumb," she said rudely. "Now, stop beating around the bush and go straight to the point! I don't have all day," she yelled into the phone. Oh jeez! Whosoever stole this woman's peace of mind and joy ought to return it because…
"I don't know how my email address got to our potential customers but someone emailed a request to my email instead of the department's email," I said on the phone.
"Oh!" She said plainly and as dryly as possible. "Are you just replying to the mail now? It's been four days! You dummy, four days and you are just replying now? No wonder she was worried, wondering why you haven't replied to her," she said." I don't think she is talking to me.
"What? I don't understand," I said to her.
"Yeah, I gave her your email address! She needs to talk to you. Tomorrow don't resume work, try and get to the woman's place to discuss it. Further. All the information you need is attached to the email she sent you. I can't believe you just saw her email. You need to be more disciplined. Well, it's not too late just to what I told you and you will be fine. I will inform her from my end," she said before hanging the call on me.
"What the heck?" I said as I stared at my phone. Who does things like that without informing others? I was angry but she was my boss. I stumbled into my bed and within a few minutes I was off.
"Beep!!!" The annoying beeping of my alarm went off, cutting the sweet dream I just had.
"Oh, it was a dream! Jeez, I need to get myself in order," I said as I slapped myself before walking to the bathroom. I remembered all that transpired between Mary and I and I just got pissed. I went about getting myself prepared for work. I didn't put much effort into my appearance. Even if I was going to a client's place, they had to be super wealthy for Mary to send me over to them.
"Hey! Are you ready? I'm around your block," a message appeared on my phone which was from Richard. Even Richard couldn't help me get Adams off my mind. I quickly copied the information I needed from the email before rushing out.
"Hey! Good morning," I greeted him immediately as I entered Richard's car.
"You look ravishing this morning!" He said, looking at me. "Good morning dear!" He added.
"Oh please, who looks ravishing in a shirt over a vest and trousers!" I said to him after staring at him for a while.
"Leia Meyers!" He said, smiling.
"What?"
"The answer to your question," he said.
"I wasn't asking a question, dummy!" I asked him before he started the journey.
"Take me to this address," I said as I passed my phone to him.
"I need to see a client before going to work," I told him.
"Why?" He asked. "When are you going to stop wearing that?" He asked me.
"Until all those billboards are taken down! Just inform me when we get there, I can get some sleep," I said, turning to the window with my blindfold.
"He is crowning his Luna next week. Have you forgotten? Besides, you have me! Always!" He said with a sigh to which I pulled my blindfold to glare at him.
The house was massive and magnificent. It was wealth just as I had imagined. I was directed to the waiting room. I thought the exterior of the mansion looked magnificent, the interior was double. I was blown away by the interior design and furniture. This was heaven on earth.
I was ushered into another room, an office. A slender woman entered a few minutes later and we got talking.
"So, do you have a description of the kind of lady you want?" I asked.
She dropped
a photo on the table from which I picked and I saw myself in it.
"You!"
