His Unchained prisoner

Serenity’s POV As the second hand on the wall clock ticked, I stared at it sadly. I was supposed to be celebrating with my boyfriend but here I was stuck in this cafe because I couldn't risk losing my job. “What's wrong Serenity?“ Mel a coworker asked me glancing over my shoulder. “I’m… supposed to be somewhere else,” I admitted quietly. Mel had been nothing but kind since I started working here, but I didn’t want to dump my problems on her. She had enough of her own. “Why don't you tell the boss, i'm sure he'll let you go since it isn't rush hour yet.“ I thought of that, but since the boss have given me too many favours, I felt I was misusing the kindness. Seeing my hesistation, Mel pulled me from the chair pushing me to Mr Milton's office. “You can tell him that i'll cover for you till you get back.” My eyes widened. She didn’t ask questions or demand details. “Oh my God thank you!” I blurted out, kissing her cheek before she could stop me. “It's fine.“ she said smiling. As Mel predicted, Mr Milton let me go for two hours. I rushed to a small cake shop nearby and bought the simplest cake I could afford. Derick had told me not to bother, he said my wishes were enough. But I wanted to show up with something like I always did. The taxi stopped in front of his apartment building, and my heart raced as I climbed out. He was going to be suprised and happy. I could already picture his smile. That image shattered the moment I reached his door. The sounds came first, it wasn't what I expected. I froze. Maybe I had the wrong apartment. I checked the door number again. Before I could talk myself out of it, “whooah… Derick… faster… ahhh” “My love… you’re incredible…” That voice was unmistakingly Derick's. I shoved the door open and what I saw stole the air from my lungs. Derick was naked and beneath a woman. A woman I recognized. My mind refused to process what I was seeing. “She… I thought she was your sister?” I stammered, the cake falling from my trembling hands. They scrambled apart at the sound of my voice. Derick’s eyes went wide. “Serenity, what are you doing here?” “Don’t,” I snapped. Tears were alreading forming in my eyes “She isn’t your sister… right?” He didn’t answer, his silence told me everything. She had been living with him, claiming she had nowhere else to stay. And all this time, he had been sleeping with her behind my back. I felt stupid and humiliated. I was literally overwhelmed by my anger. I couldn't hold back any longer and grabbed Rissa by the hair and dragging her out of the bed. "You slut! You knew we were dating. " Rissa let out a sharp scream "What are you doing? Let go of me!" She screamed, struggling as her nails slid across the back of my hand. I slapped her hard across her face twice. She lunged back at me, her eyes wild. “You couldn’t satisfy him, you crazy b***h!” She pulled my hair. I didn’t back down. We crashed to the floor, choking, scratching and biting eachother. Derick just stood there watching. “Serenity stop!” he finally shouted, pulling on his pants before dragging us apart. He pulled Rissa into his chest, shielding her. “You’re acting crazy!” I laughed bitterly. "Oh so i’m the crazy one?" My boyfriend had been sleeping with the woman he called his sister, and he was protecting her. The pain that wrapped around my heart was so tight that I could barely breathe. “You… you and Rissa..” I muttered “Wait, I can explain! If you just listen” he said, reaching for me. “Explain what?” I screamed. “That you cheated on me? That I was a fool for loving you?” Then his expression changed. “You betrayed me first,” he snapped. “You slept with your boss. You think I wouldn't find out?” I stared at him. “What…? What the f*ck are you spilling?” “You think I’m stupid? You get a raise at work and you didn't tell me. You expect me to believe it was innocent?” I stared out Rissa. The person I was beginning to trust.and shared things with. “I was going to tell you about the raise. I didn't sleep with Mr Milton…I swear..“ He laughed, covering his face. “Whore.” That word broke something inside me. “Is that what I am to you?” “Yes!” he shouted. “Everyone knows your boss is cold to everyone except you.” Before I could speak, Rissa cut in with a sneer. “You have no shame, Serenity.” I turned on her. “You slept with my boyfriend!” She smiled coldly. “Derick deserves better.” My chest ached. “Just accept it,” she added. “You’ve been dumped.” I looked at Derick, desperate for denial. For anything. But his eyes were on her filled with hunger and lust looking at Rissa's cleavage. “You can’t do this,” I begged. “After everything I’ve done for you..” “I’m tired of this,” Rissa said sharply. “Throw her out.” And just like that, I was nothing. Derick dragged me into the stairwell, shoving me against the wall. I felt him press against me. “What are you doing?” I screamed. “You still want me,” he said cruelly. “You always act like you’re better than everyone.” I swung my handbag with everything I had. He howled in pain. I didn’t stop. I hit him again, sobbing, before running barefoot down the stairs. I didn’t stop crying until I reached the elevator. I clutched my handbag and high heels as I entered the elevator, frantically pressing the close button. I felt an unbearable pain. My heart felt as if it was squeezed over and over again. I opened my mouth, breathing heavily to avoid suffocating in the confined elevator. Why did he do this to me? Was I really not good enough for him? I had given Derick my savings for his business that is blowing up, I helped him with so much in the past out of love. I admit our s*x life wasn't great, but that's no reason for his betrayal. He was my first boyfriend, the one who took my virginity. How could he do that to me.! I just wanted to grab a knife and kill that pair of scumbags. But I knew that was a crime. Damn it, I couldn't! Feeling suffocated, I ordered a taxi to the nearest bar, I didn't care how people glanced at me, I knew I looked messy but that was the least of my problems. I stormed into the bar and ordered the strongest drink completely forgeting about work. As the liquid burned down my throat into my stomach, the pain from the alcohol made my heart skip wildly for a moment, leaving me feeling utterly lost and hollow. I sat there dazed at the bar, my mind barely functioning. I briefly forgot about them Good, this was the feeling I needed. I needed the alcohol to numb my nerves, to make me seem a bit normal. After several drinks, the brief haze passed, but Derick and Rissa's words kept echoing in my ears. Maybe if I get laid by a stranger, i'll forget about them, I thought to myself. My eyes began to search for someone in the busy bar and they landed on him. I couldn't take my gaze off him He was breathtaking. I couldn’t look away. Sharp nose, full lips and a body that made my pulse stutter. I think i've found my distraction.
