Lay of the Land
The smell of The Necromancer begins sifting through the cracks in the cavernous revienes, rising from below. The Necromancer scratches and claws through those cracks of long ago earth. Once it's free to roam, it will lay a stake of claim upon all. Even the dead will rise and walk on his shattered realm on earth. As it fights to be free, it’ll take form of a once known King. A king of tyranny and destruction. The entity of this spirit is an angry core, an apparition that refuses to rest. The Necromancer thrives upon fear, despair and lost, the best of the is anger. The Tyrannical King is perfect for a manifesting spirit of rising evil. Decaying hides of various once living humans and creatures, swirling of scars for all to see the branding faces and screams of its victims. It searches into any vital life force, for fear, and brings that horror to life. Even mimicking the hidden desires to corrupt or rage. It is the purest evil for anyone or anything to rise against. A path of destruction is to surely follow, if the Necromancer defeats any that stand against him. *** Blaeddyn, the highest and oldest Elder of Dragons, smells this decay. Blaeddyn knows essentially the Necromancer would seek to find the last of the fire and hearts of any dragon. A simple command is laid, spreading far and wide, alerting the elders of the old that still roam. All Elders know the Necromancer will need the essences of the Dragon’s fire and heart to continue to exist. An order travels fast through Dragon Dunes, all dragons were to keep amongst their own kind. Many of the dragons obey. However a few still hold desires to feel the freedom of the wrath they held in a single flight. Wing spans covering a mountainscape or fire scorching fields leaving them to burn into the night. Those few could be the ones caught however many dragons make themselves invisible so Humans and Forgottens wouldn’t see them. As they take to being whom they are, predators in flight, ravenous creatures of surprise, most comply to the new order as others brave the unknown. Blaeddyn, is a source of knowledge and the eldest amongst the Dragon Elders. He knew of the Sieventhery war of 1000 years ago and still bares the scars to prove it. His green eyes sparkle like emeralds; his majestic wingspan could cover a castle of kingly portions. Age of ancient clung to his scales and his demeanor. As the decay smell increased, Blaeddyn knew it was time for an old friend, Draco. Draco, a spirit of dragon essence who lays dormant until called upon, who could change forms from dragon to fire. Known by attaching to humans is how it survives out dormantacy. Blaeddyn quietly summons for Draco ordering him to find the truest in heart and noble of humans to help protect the dragons in the impending war on the horizon. He knew the Forgotten creatures would be rising to fight with and for The Necromancer. Despair and annihilation is sure to arrive afterward, if a true heart of fighters, the guardian of Dragons is not found. *** The Forgotten creatures often wage warfare for ownership of land. The Forgottens have overpowered villages making them become slaves to Torrid the Horrid. Torrid, a vile creature, a bullish orge of sorts, his armor made of bones and skin of his victims. Human hides draping around him in a cape form with animal fur lining the edge. His sword is of a fire breathing dragon skull. He shows no mercy to anyone or anything. Spiking heads at the gates of the Burning Kingdom as a warning sign for any brave soul who dares to enter. *** It was King Balthazar who banned The Forgotten into the lower realm when the moon was young. Balthazar refused to have a kingdom overran by such wicked creatures. Since the banishment, killing and maiming of another has become a thing of the past in the Kingdom of Brísingamen. Nevertheless King Balthazar’s children and followers knew the Forgotten may return. The King made an arrangement with a nearby kingdom to strengthen numbers. To fight a war of survival if it should arise. Prince Slautourn, King Balthazar’s son, knew of this pact at a young age. The pact or treaty, had no impact to him, just someone close to him. Prince Slautourn has grown into a brave warrior. Slautourn is known for brute force, his mouth often causing fights and his oversize sword or battle axe always ending it. Slautourn has never agreed to the merging treaty and often waged terror in little towns due to dishonesty or thievery. “Many thieves amongst the honest.” he would state to the King. However with heavy heart the King banishes Slautourn to the barren wastelands just south of Dragon Dunes. With the exile of Prince Slautourn, his sister Princess Vykirenia is left to protect their kingdom but she fell into sadness. Her brother, her protector and her confidante- banished. She cursed her father many times for forbidding her from ever seeing him again. So often she’d take to the woods for escape for exploration. Harnessing her skills of stealth and agility.
