A few days later
TIANA
It's been a few days now and I was now settling in. I was getting used to living here with my brother and his girlfriend and it's not so bad. I had my friend KeKe with me and she got me hooked up on a job.
I am a waiter at Matt's Big Breakfast. I work eight hours, Monday through Friday. I don't work on weekends. I hate working on weekends.
Saturday was my free day and Sunday is my spiritual day. I'm currently looking for a church to settle in.
Troy had told me he went to the police about our parents and told me that I would not have to write a statement on what I've seen and that was questionable to me.
I knew my brother was a bit on edge ever since that night. I was just cautious of his actions.
Speaking of the two, my brother and Xavier entered the diner as I set the meal for two down for the waiting couple.
I walked over to my brother and when he caught me, he smiled and pulled me into a hug.
"I see you're doing good here." He says and with that, I spoke.
"I am. And you?" I answered then followed by a question.
"Good. I just wanted to check on you. You got a spare minute to talk?" He questioned.
I turned my head to the front diner and looked at the clock. Lucky me, I was about to leave at fifteen.
"How about in fifteen minutes? I could catch a ride with you back to the house."
He agreed and I went and finished my shift. In fifteen minutes, I said goodnight to everyone and saw you on Monday before walking out with Troy. Troy and I sat in the car alone while Xavier was on the phone outside the car.
"So, what's up?"
"Before you came to me, you said our parents house was a blood mess."
I suddenly felt an uneasy feeling. I nod my head. "Yes. Why?" I did not understand why he's bringing this up again. I told him about everything that happened. Everything from my abduction to me escaping Carter.
"Who took you Tia?"
That's when it hit me that I did not tell Troy about Carter's name. I just said a guy named Boss man. Why did I not tell him Carter's name? Turns out I didn't want to tell him. It was just something in my gut telling me not too and I listened.
"To our parents house?" I asked.
He gave me a nod. "His name was Rick. He's just a driver." I half told him the truth.
He looked at me with narrowed eyes. He sighed before nodding his head.
"Alright. But I wanted to talk to you about the possibility of mom and dad not being alive."
I frowned. "You don't know that. They could be under our nose and we don't know it. Why would you say that?"
He sighed. "Tiana, I don't want you to get your hopes up. They could be d—"
I shook my head rapidly as tears built in my eyes. My parents weren't dead. They can't be.
"Just stop. Don't finish that. They are alive."
Then, a hand grabbed my arm and forced me to look at him. He looked frustrated and I swore I saw irritation. "Hope or reality."
My brows crashed together. "What?"
"Face the facts, sis. They're gone." He said with no remorse.
Then my tears just fell. I pulled away from him and opened the car door, getting out.
"Tiana!" He called out but I kept walking.
I understand he had a dislike but I didn't know how strong. He truly had no remorse and he told me not to hope. My parents might have been hard to deal with but I wouldn't be here if it was not for me.
I believe they were alive and nothing will change my mind.

CARTER
"Another?" The man behind the bar asked, gesturing my empty glass that was filled with straight whiskey.
"I'm closing my tab." I said, placing the few hundreds on the bar counter before standing and walking away. I was feeling generous tonight.
My eyes roamed over the full club, full of drunks and more naked women rubbing their bodies on others. I instantly grew more agitated when I heard my name called.
"If you have nothing on Xenon, Brian, I don't want to hear it." I said nonchalantly. I was in no mood for bullshît tonight. I was in a fair mood and I did not want it ruined.
"We have a lead, Boss. We have him in a private room." He said and that was all he said and it was enough to walk to the private room.
In silence, we made our way to the room and I listened to the voices. I pushed the door open then motioned for Brian to close it.
"I don't have anything!" A voice said weakly. Unfamiliar man, tied up in the wood chair.
Rick sent a punch his way while Brian and I stood off to the side. He cried out in pain as his head went left.
"Name?" I queried slowly as I watched him get a beating. Ignoring the pleads and cries, Brian replied.
"David Quen." He answered.
I decided to make my presence to the stranger known as I walked to where Rick was. "That's enough, Rick." Rick stepped back and walked away to clean his bloody fist.
The guy sighed in relief but his beating was not compared to what mine would be if he did not tell me what I need to know about Xenon.
His swollen face looked up at me and his eyes went wide. He opened his mouth about to speak but I spoke up.
"No need to look so scared. Guessing by the look you know who I am. Correct?" I smirked.
He said nothing, letting the silence spread throughout the room. So, I continued.
"You already know why you're here and it can end for you in two ways. If you cooperate, you're free to go and if you don't," I paused.
I took off my nice jacket and handed it over to Brian. I rolled my sleeves up, ready to throw so punches if need be. I grabbed the chair from the car side of the room and placed it in front of him. Without hesitation, I started off.
"You and Candace."
I watched his face carefully, watching for change and there was a slight twitch to his lip.
"I don't know what you're talking about." He said slowly.
I stared at him for a moment longer. My generous mood left me and in came anger. My right hand clenched into a fist then I sent a punch to his nose.
He groaned in pain. "Who do you work for?" I sent another punch his way. I was now furious. Without waiting for an answer, I punched him again.
My fist covered in his blood. I did not stop. His face will be unrecognizable and I would burn it off.
"Brian, get me the blade!" I ordered after sending one last punch.
"Wa-Wait! I'll tell you-u-u!" He yelled in distraught.
"Who is it?!" I snapped.
He sighed, wincing in pain. "Xavier."
"Last name and start talking!"
"Xavier Hill. He didn't say much. I only did what I was told or they would have killed me." He said.
I frowned. "He's part of a team?" I asked as my mind continued putting the pieces together.
The stranger sighed. "I can't tell you. He'll kill me if he finds out."
I smirked. "You will die for sure if I don't get what I need. I'm being generous. A rare thing but don't take advantage of it. It can quickly turn into rage." I said while Brian handed over my favorite blade. Remembered I made my first kill with it and it was satisfying. Good memories.
"Start talking." I said, my tone more firm. Je gulped but continued.
"Xavier is the right hand man of the Boss. He makes sure the cash is right and makes sure every target is down. They wash money and make more. They bet cars and race for more. They always know which car would win and I don't know how. I do know that Xenon has a special girl in his life."
I gave a nod. "And who is the girl?"
"I don't know but I know he'd never let anything happen to her."
I stayed silent for a moment then spoke. "Where do the races take place?"
He sighed. "Phoenix, Arizona."
I smirked. "Thank you for your honesty. Rick, get rid of him."
"W-Wait, you said I go free if I tell you everything!" He yelled in panic, struggling against the restraints.
I held my hand up, motioning Rick to stop. I walked and stepped in front of him.
"I did not say you'd go free, Mr. Quen. Enjoy your last breath."
I took my blade and swiftly swiped it across his neck. Gurgle sounds went through the room and his head slumped forward.
"Get rid of him and bring the car around. We're going for a drive."
They moved swiftly without questioning.
After all, this is over, I will see to it that my babe is hunted down and brought to me.
For her sake.
