Chapter 1 Underwood,you have a visitor." the warden said, unlocking her cell as kaira walked out. Ever since she got into the prison three months back,she'd received visitors from different families whose relations had died in the hotel. She walked over to the visiting area and found the two people who had brought only smiled to her face in the past three months. "Aunt Kathy, Attorney Ralph." she hugged her aunt then shook hands with her lawyer. "How have you been? it must be tough been in here alone." Aunt Kathy whispered, looking around. "Are your inmates rude? cruel?" "I'm fine Aunt Kathy come on, today's not my visiting day remember my case is that of murder." kaira replied, smiling sadly. she'd only wished to sleep and wake up beside her parents but she'd lost them to the cruel hands of death. They'd died too early. "We brought good news." Aunt Kathy whispered as attorney Ralph passed a document to her. "You're free to go, but on probation." Attorney Ralph said as kaira c****d her brows. "How did you get me out on probation? I know it's not something__" "I'll explain the details once we get out of here. people can hear us." Her Aunt replied lowly as she nodded. * * "It feels great to be home." Kaira said, rushing toward the idol on her table. She breath in air and tears almost came to her eyes. "Can we talk now?" she asked, turning to face her Aunt but she noticed the older woman refused to meet her gaze. "I'm becoming scared aunt,why do I have the feeling that something is not right here?" "Mayor Kenney Macbeth is responsible for your release." it felt like a bombshell as kaira's legs almost lost its balance. "Wh_what,why?" she asked, swallowing too much saliva she almost choked on it. "Why'd you go to him for help? why?" she asked but her Aunt only shrugged. "Your parents would have turned and turned in their graves over you. I couldn't watch and do nothing. it's not right." she replied, walking towards kaira. "What did you give him in return? he's not a giver. he takes and give." "Well,he pinned the deaths and all on someone different but he's asking to be your husband." Kaira's mouth was agape,her heart beat slowed down and her palms became sweaty. "My_my husband?" her hands went up to her hair, pulling it forcefully. "You agreed to this, knowing fully well__" "I couldn't stand and watch you suffer, it's not right." Aunt Kathy said,tears running down her cheeks. "So tell me what's right. delivering me into the hands of doom or__" she choked on her spit as she passed out. * * Macbeth Villa * "I really don't know why you helped her but she better be watchful. Those angry families would stop at nothing till they have her head rolling on the floor." Susan said, clearing the files which littered the table. "You should know by now,I plan on making her my woman." he replied as Susan gasped. "What?" "Why?" he asked. "She's beautiful,young and above all intelligent." he replied, shrugging. "You don't love her." Susan almost yelled but kept her voice low. she didn't want to get on the bad side of the mayor. She'd known him for ages and now,at thirty six he hadn't changed a bit. He was still the arrogant jerk she knew him to be. "Your family is not going to like this." Susan said as he chuckled. "You mean my sister? Khloe?" he asked and she nodded negatively. "Gina also,she'd throw a fit about a murderer living in the same house as her daughter." he thought of it for a while before nodding. "Yeah, she'll talk but she has no say in this. it's my business and I own the custody of Xena,she wouldn't dare mess with me." he replied and Susan knew he meant every word. His best friend John was the chief judge now and he had enough friends in the army and police. His parents were into politics before they retired so he had enough connections. "So when is the wedding?" Susan asked, shaking her head. "By weekend, it'll be a court marriage. I don't do glamorous events Khloe does that but too bad she wouldn't be interested in doing this so we'll stick to the court marriage. Just then, the young nanny walked in with Xena in her arms. "She's burning up." He scoffed and looked at her. "Then make her stop, I'll__" "Ken, she's sick that's what it means." Susan cut in as he stood up. "what?" "You need to take her to the children's clinic or call in her doctor." "I'll do that. bring her to me." Susan said, taking the bundle of joy into her arms. "Get her things from her bedroom, she'll be taken care of right here." Susan said as the nanny almost sprinted out of the office. "She never showed any sign of being sick so what's__" "Ken, this baby needs her mother. She's just four months and you've__" "You have no right to talk to me about what I do about Xena, I'll be getting my woman into this house very soon and she'll be the mother figure to Xena." Susan sighed. "What about breastfeeding her? " Susan asked, c*****g her brows. "Kaira will do it." * * "Please take good care of yourself, it's not a surprise you passed out. you've been starving at the prison." Doctor Garrett said, smiling down at her. He had been her doctor since childhood and he knew her too well. He'd also been among the few who knew she wasn't guilty of the murders. "Rest, okay." she nodded, smiling at him as he walked out of her bedroom. Her smile dropped immediately as she recalled her fate. Mayor Kenney Macbeth wasn't a nice man. He was her business associate and in the few years they worked together,she got a glimpse of who he was. He'd made several advances towards her,he'd gotten her flowers on different occasions and even treated her to lunch a few times. She'd gone along with the flow until she met Killian. She closed her eyes, pushing the pain down. The door opened and Aunt Kathy walked in. "You're starving so eat up." "Why'd you sign my fate up with that man?" she asked, biting into the delicious food. "He's the only one who can protect you from Killian and his vulture." Aunt Kathy replied, walking over to the little stool beside the bed. "Vulture?" she asked and her aunt nodded. "Yassi your so called friend from highschool is dating Killian right now, come to think of it,they never got along but it was just a facade to make you think she's on your side. To make you think she loves you a bunch." Aunt Kathy scoffed. "So I'm getting married to Ken because of protection? what else?" "To be a mother to his baby." she replied as kaira gasped.
