AN UNPRECEDENTED ATTACK
CLEO'S POV
I got very scared each minute I remembered that the day I would be persecuted was drawing near. I had been given lashes in the morning, afternoons and even at night for two days. I was weak and almost finished. My whole body felt very weak and I already felt dead.
That night as I awaited my execution, I could not help but think of what I might have done with my life but then I sighed, my life was without meaning so why should I worry about such things but even at that, the thought of death still scared me.
I jolted out of my trance when I heard a very large roar coming from outside. It was so loud that it rang through the dungeon and I was sure every werewolf within the pack house would also hear it.
"What was that?" I thought.
Few seconds later I heard another loud scream, "we are under attack!! Brace yourselves."
I was so terrified, "Attack? What pack would want to attack ours?" I thought.
I had no means of escaping. Death was coming to me either way. If I didn't die here in this dungeon, I would be killed by these intruders. There was really no hope for me. I kept hearing roars and claws slicing through the skin.
I could only imagine what the Alpha must be thinking. He would lose a lot of his warriors because he didn't plan or expect the attack. No one would have expected it.
Just then I heard two guards speaking just outside my dungeon, a few feets away at most.
"There's a lot going on out there. We can't go outside." One said.
"But why? We have to fight alongside our pack." The other stated.
"Then who will watch the prisoners huh? We just have to wait for the Alpha's orders."
I heard a frustrated grunt from one of them.
The noise and commotion continued for a few hours. Then I heard more guards approaching the cell.
"Are you sure?" One asked a guard.
"Yes, bring her, take her to the Alpha. He's just outside the pack house." The guard whose voice was different from the first two I previously heard, said.
He obviously just came into the dungeon. I gasped when I saw fire lit torches coming towards the dungeon gates. They opened it and two beta guards walked in with the one who held the torch.
"Take her." He commanded and they moved to release me from my chains.
They tied my hands and led me outside. I could barely walk and yet they pushed me hard and urged me to walk faster.
I was made to kneel down behind the Alpha while he spoke to the warring pack's Alpha.
"I don't understand why you have decided to attack us tonight. I have lost a lot of my warriors in this attack." The Alpha of my pack said.
"Like I said, we are expanding our pack and because your pack has refused to surrender and give into our demands, we shall take you land by force." The Warring pack's Alpha said.
"Reynold, enough of this madness."
That seemed to be the name of the Alpha from the warring pack, Reynold. I could not see his face because I was made to kneel behind our Alpha and there were also guards standing on either of his sides.
"What do we have to do to make you leave our pack for good Reynold?" Our Alpha asked.
"I believe you know the answer to that. Bring forth the traitor." Reynold announced.
"He's been dead alongside his family a long time ago...why do you keep punishing us and besides he wasn't totally from this pack,"
"But he used to be your ally." Reynold interrupted.
"That was before we found out about what he did and the damage that he caused on his pack, our pack and other packs that were affected by his greed." The Alpha said.
I was confused as to what they were talking about.
What was the need to bring me outside? They had no use for me.
"Don't lie to me. We went to his pack's territory and it's almost a wasteland. We've been looking around for him for years but he has not been found..."
"That is because he is dead." Our Alpha yelled.
"Accept it already, Reynold. He is dead." He added solemnly.
"I will not believe that until I have seen his corpse with my own two eyes." Reynold said through gritted teeth with so much anger.
"For how long are you going to keep oppressing other packs for the sake of finding him. The world is bigger than what we imagined Reynold. Even if he is alive, you have to look further than the plains you're currently searching. Employ different tactics. And if after all that you've still not been able to find him, then just know that he's dead and gone." The Alpha said.
Reynold walked closer to him and the beta guards advanced towards Reynold to protect the alpha. In that little instant I could see the side of his face but from the ground where I was kneeling.
The Alpha was not phased by Reynold's menacing look and tall stature.
"I will give you something else. It might help to end all this barbaric act of yours Reynold." The Alpha said and stepped aside revealing my face to Reynold.
I immediately lowered my head and my hair fell on either side of my face covering it. I didn't want him to see me like this, it was quite embarrassing.
One of Reynold's beta warriors, a female werewolf, walked up to me and roughly lifted my chin so that I could look at her.
"Why are you giving her to me? She is of no use to me." Reynold said and turned his back ready to leave with his troops to go and find another pack that they would attack.
"This won't do. We shall return " Reynold said.
"Not after I have given her to you."
Reynold turned back upon hearing this. He scoffed.
"What makes you think that I will take her?" He asked arrogantly.
"She is his daughter. Silver's offspring." Mt Alpha replied.
I saw Reynold's eyes grow wide with shock. He looked at me and then back at my Alpha.
"Don't play tricks with me." Reynold said
angrily.
"Go ahead and ask her."
Reynold walked up to me.
"What is your name?"
Revealing my name always gets me in trouble but now, I felt if I didn't, a lot of others will be put in trouble. I didn't want to say anything because I wanted the Alpha and all this with the pack to pay dearly for what they did to me. For wrongly accusing me and putting me through torture and ridicule but I wasn't like them. They needed my name so I would give it to them.
"Say your name NOW!" Reynold commanded angrily.
It shook me up a bit,
"It's Cleo. My name is Cleo Silver. I replied.
I heard Reynold ket out a sharp gasp.
"You've had her all this while. And now you're suddenly giving her to me. Why?" He asked the Alpha.
I could still feel his hot gaze on me even as he asked that question.
"She didn't serve any purpose back then but now is the right time. Take her and never return. Do as you wish with her. She is our tribute of peace to you. If her father caused chaos at least her death would revert it." The Alpha said.
I was alarmed upon hearing what he just said.
"And don't forget Reynold. We all lost something because of Silver. You're not the only one."
"Take her." Reynold instructed.
Two beta guards came to either if my order and pulled me off and just like that, I was sold off to another pack.
Was this a good thing or a bad thing, I wouldn't know until time unfolds.
