"Alexandra;'s POV"
I tried to stop myself from chuckling because my guess that he's straightforward seems to be true after
all.
"Alexandra's my name. Duke and High Priest. I'm looking forward to my new life here and would ask you
if it's not too troublesome to look after me as I'm still lacking in knowledge about the way of life here in this world."
Both of them became still for a moment before looking into each other's eyes. Coughing, the High Priest then began explaining what'd happen to me as of today.
"Young Lady, Alexandra, you'll be departing with the Duke immediately after the end of this talk. The decision may seem sudden, but you'll live in the Frostier Duchy onwards. Please, do not think that we don't like you staying here, in fact, that is the total opposite.
However, the Duke will be able to take good care of you better than we can. You're still a child, so you may still not be able to under-
stand, but..."
The High Priest then looked at the Duke with an encouraging smile. Duke Jerarld only ended up fighting once again before.
continuing High Priest Arman's words.
" *cough* We have lots of enemies and those are the fu-, I mean the 'nobles' who feel threatened by us. If they happen to get a
sniff about what's going on, you might end up in danger."
Nodding, " I see...I understand what you're trying to say a little bit. Then, I'll be in your care from now on, Duke Jerald."
The High Priest's eyes widened in surprise and was about to say something, but the Duke only gave him a nod.
"Sure do, kid."
The High Priest then coughed once again.
Maybe it just rains outside and they both get caught a cold or something.
Because I was so nervous earlier, I didn't put much thought into what the room looked like. In comparison to the place I went earlier, this room's much smaller, but fancier and has that welcoming vibe.
The color of the walls is dark blue, the floor is maroon, and the chairs and the other things in the room are all mostly gold. The table and the frame of the windows are the only things that are broken.
Oh, I almost forgot that there's a red carpet that covers the medium-sized brown table to the surroundings of the chairs we're sitting on at the moment,
Yeah, fancy but more of a place where you can read a good book while drinking coffee.
"The only things that are ruining the atmosphere would be the gold-colored shiny things, it seems..."
"Did you say something?" The high priest asked.
Flustered, I replied, " Ah, no. Well, yeah. I guess...so?"
"It's okay. Speak up. We won't get mad or anything." said High Priest's Arman, with a reassuring voice and a bright warm smile.
I tried to avoid the eyes of the Duke, who had been drilling holes in me for a while now.
"What is it?" the Duke asked with a bit of annoying expression plastered on his face.
nothing there goes...
"Can I see...what's outside the window? I'm...kinda' curious."
The Duke stood up all of a sudden, and before I knew it, he carried me himself in his arms until we reached the small window.
That surprised the hell out of me.
"Make a bigger request next time, kid. I thought you were bothered by something so I was already thinking of destroying or killing whatever it could've been, you know."
"..........."
Whatttttt?
Thinking of already killing or destroying?
Did I hear the Duke wrong?
Shaking my head, Well, I probably had heard him wrong.
Who would say such a thing at the Temple of the goddess, right?
Tiptoing, I couldn't help but only say, "Whoa."
All I could see earlier was only the priests that serve the goddess, but I didn't think there would be so many people gathering just outside the building.
Even though, Arabella, the original owner of this body, and the Daughter of the Duke shouldn't be there but currently with the goddess to cure her...I think I still get a picture of what nobles are like. I even think I picked up some of the normal young nobles
ladylike. My guess is probably because Arabella's body grew up around her fellow nobles, who were her family.
In addition to that, there was also an enormous fountain outside with a woman on top.
You could tell that the woman was beautiful even in the distance as it, was really detailed and sculptured well.
Truly beautiful, without a doubt.
She was wearing a piece of cloth turned into a flowing dress that complimented her figure well. Do you know the
pieces of clothing that the gods and goddesses of Olympus in the statue in the human world? It was kinda'
similar to that.
"IS that...the goddess?"
"Yes, she is, young lady..." a voice inside my head answered.
I couldn't help but get startled and almost shrieked, but successfully stopped myself by covering my mouth with both my hands.
I think it's already basic knowledge that screaming at a temple isn't that much of a good choice.
Don't know for sure here, but in my former world, making a fuss inside the church is equal to people looking at you (not in a good way), or getting into a nice conversation with someone who works there instead.
"D-did you hear that?" I asked,
Duke Frostier seemed confused by what I said. I was about to say something when I heard that voice again so suddenly without
warning
"What did you hear?"
"T-THAT111"
I couldn't stop myself from screaming anymore but I tried to lower it out as much as I could.
I'm strong. I'm brave. But I can't control my emotions properly even if I have my memories, and my soul's old enough because
, in the end, I was still inside a child's body.
I pulled Duke Frostier's black formal pants before saying, " I-I heard someone's voice inside my mind! I don't know if
You'll believe me, but it seems impossible, even impossible to me. However, this world is extraordinary. So-"
Duke Frostier looked at High Priest Arman, who was only watching us and smiling.
"Duke Jerarld?...Don't you believe...me? High Priest, didn't you hear it, too?"
"Old Priest...don't test me."
High Priest Arman laughed before raising both his arms as if he was surrendering and shrugged afterward.
Duke Frrostier then made me look at him by turning my body to him. "The culprit is the one on your right side, Alexandra.
It's the elder that's smiling shamelessly as if he didn't try to do anything."
"Culprit...High Priest?"
"Forgive me for my actions, young lady. I was just testing you. You see, there are only a few people who can receive what I'm
trying to say through telepathy. It is a skill given only to those who have a strong connection with the goddess. Very few people
can hear what one's saying, and be able to use the same skill too. It requires a lot of concentration because our environment
is filled with sounds."
"It also means you have a pure soul more than anyone else, young lady."
more
Me? Pure Soul?
Those who are well-connected to the goddess will have the chance to have the skill of
telepathy's already interesting enough.
But I don't think hearing that I have a pure soul more than anyone else is something I would want to hear.
Not that I want to have a dark soul or anything, please don't take it that way.
I just find it...quite odd.
Right now, all I wanna hear about are things that give me that strange, heart-thumping, exciting feeling.
I want to live my new life doing what I want and enjoy it to the fullest. Something I haven't done in my past life.
I feel so sour all of a sudden.
"That's...great."
Duke Jerarld seemed to notice the change of tone in my voice, but I just avoided his gaze.
"Then if all's well, Duke Frostier, I will tell you about the other details on your way to the Duchy, young lady.
It's about to get dark soon. It'll be safer for you to travel in broad daylight."
Duke Jerarld offered me his right hand, and I couldn't help but stare at I for a while. The owner of these hands...going to be
my second father.
I shook my head and slowly lifted my left hand in the air.
In this new life, he's about to be my...father. No first and second.
How...unpredictable.
"Yes, it would be better...I guess...."
With my left hand on Duke Jerarld's hand, he nodded at me with a meaningful gaze, and I felt him squeeze my not-so teeny-tinny hands.
Now, shall we depart?
Get ready to giddy up!
This world is called 'Mystical' as Thomas has said.
Actually, while riding in a carriage on our way to the Duchy where I'll live from now on, I thought about the things written
through a story originally written by Thomas. In the meantime, let me tell you the story but, in summarizing the version specifically
created by me.
The title of the story Thomas showed me was 'The Princess' Journey and the Destruction'. As the title says, the main character is a Princess of a Kingdom. Like any other princess, she was beautiful and her name was also known throughout the continent.
However, she was more than a princess and the story specifically highlighted that part.
The story cited that the best word to describe her as a 'warrior' in itself. Brave, confident, intelligent, have a strong belief, and fights
directly for injustice.
Her birth mother died when she was 7 years old. The king was intelligent and had made great accomplishments.
Nevertheless, his political power and influence is lacking.
In the end, he was forced to take in another woman only as a Queen. Unfortunately, he got caught in her trap one day. The King, though in conflict, couldn't help but crown her as the Empress and that's when the country falls into chaos as the powerful gain more power and the weak get trampled on behind the scenes.
The Princess is the firstborn child of the King and inherited the characteristics passed down to the Royal
family more than the son of the Empress and is the exact reflection of her. The Empress and her son may have
a lot of political backing, but having the characteristics and the blood flowing through the Princess' veins
is another matter. You could say that it is a threat that can still be smashed through the influence of the Empress.
Specifically, it's something that's been prioritized since back in the day.
