Chapter five :Words That Changed Everything(part1)

1029 Words
After Connor’s confession, Juliet didn’t know what to feel. “I love you, Juliet.” Those words stayed in her mind long after he left. For so long, Connor had hidden behind his pride. He had acted like he didn’t care, like losing her wouldn’t hurt him. But now, for the first time, she had seen the truth. He cared. The problem was that caring wasn’t always enough. Juliet had been hurt before. She had spent too much time wondering where she stood with him, wondering if she mattered as much as he mattered to her. But after that night, Connor tried. He called her more. He listened. He stopped pretending that everything was a joke. Their relationship wasn’t suddenly perfect, but they were trying to find their way back to each other. For a while, Juliet allowed herself to believe that maybe things were finally becoming easier. But life had a way of changing everything when people least expected it. A few days later, Juliet went out alone. It was supposed to be an ordinary day. She had no reason to believe anything would go wrong. Until she met him. At first, she thought he was just being annoying. The kind of person who didn’t understand the meaning of no. She tried to ignore him. She tried to walk away. But he followed her. The feeling in her chest changed from irritation to fear. Something about the situation felt wrong. When he tried to cross a line, Juliet reacted immediately. She fought back. She refused to freeze. She refused to let him overpower her. Her fear turned into anger, and before she even realized what was happening, she had hit him. Hard. The noise attracted attention. People gathered. Questions were asked. And somehow, Juliet found herself sitting inside a police station, trying to explain what happened. Her hands shook slightly. Not because she regretted defending herself. But because she hated that she had been put in that position. She hated that someone had made her feel unsafe. That was when Albert walked in. He wasn’t there because of Juliet. He had come for another client. But the moment he noticed her, he stopped. “Juliet?” She looked up. For a second, relief crossed her face. “Albert.” He immediately noticed something was wrong. “What happened?” She looked away. “It’s a long story.” Albert didn’t push. He simply stayed beside her and helped her through the situation. He asked the right questions. He made sure she wasn’t alone. He didn’t look at her like she was a problem. He didn’t judge her. And that meant more than he knew. When everything was finally settled, Juliet looked at him. “Thank you.” Albert shook his head. “You don’t have to thank me.” “I do.” He looked at her. “Why?” “Because you helped me when you didn’t have to.” Albert gave a small smile. “Maybe I wanted to.” Those words stayed with her. A few days passed. Juliet was surprised when Albert called her. She looked at his name on her phone before answering. “Hello?” “Hi, Juliet.” She smiled slightly. “I didn’t expect your call.” “Is that a bad thing?” “No.” “Good.” There was a pause. “I wanted to ask you something.” “What?” “Would you go on a date with me?” Juliet was quiet. Albert wasn’t someone she expected to become close with. But he had shown her kindness when she needed it most. So she agreed. Albert invited her to his place. It was quiet and comfortable. Nothing about it felt forced. They talked for hours. Juliet learned more about him. And Albert learned more about her. Then the conversation changed. “I know something about Sam.” Juliet froze. Her eyes immediately moved to him. “My brother?” Albert nodded. For years, Sam had been the question she could never answer. The person she couldn’t forget. The missing piece of her life. “What do you know?” “I know a little.” Hope filled her expression. “Albert…” “I don’t want to give you false hope.” “But you know something?” “Yes.” Juliet felt emotional. After everything, after all the searching and unanswered questions, someone finally had information. That night, she felt closer to Albert than she expected ,she kissed him continuously, Albert did the same and they got into love making. She trusted him. And that trust became something deeper between them. Meanwhile, Gabriel’s life crossed with Juliet’s again. Juliet had gone to pick up Bloom, Blossom’s daughter, from school. She wasn’t expecting to see him there. But there he was. Gabriel. Their eyes met, and both of them looked surprised. “Juliet?” She smiled. “Gabriel.” They both laughed softly at the coincidence. “I didn’t know you came here,” he said. “I’m picking up Bloom.” Gabriel looked toward the school. “My sister attends here too.” Juliet smiled. “That explains why you’re here.” They stood together, talking while they waited. It felt easy. Just like before. Gabriel still had that calmness about him. That way of making conversations feel natural. When it was time to leave, Gabriel hesitated. “Can I ask you something?” Juliet looked at him. “What?” “Would you go on a date with me?” She was surprised. Another invitation. Another person wanting to know her. Juliet smiled. “I’ll think about it.” Gabriel smiled back. “I’ll take that as a yes.” She laughed. “Don’t get ahead of yourself.” As Juliet walked away with Bloom, she couldn’t help but think about how complicated her life had become. Connor was the person who knew her past. Albert was connected to the answers she had been searching for. And Gabriel was someone who made her feel calm. Three different men. Three different paths. And Juliet had no idea where any of them would lead
