LYSANDRA “It’s negative. You are not with a child. It was a false pregnancy, Luna Lysandra,” I felt Cairo’s hold loosened. Tears pooled in my eyes but I forced myself to smile as I shook my head refusing to accept the doctor’s diagnosis. “But I was experiencing morning sickness. I get dizzy from time to time. My period was also delayed. You must be wrong, Doctor. I know I am pregnant. I can feel it,” The doctor looked at me with his filled with pity. When he slowly shook his head I already knew that I failed again. “We did every tests Luna Lysandra but there is no sign of pregnancy,” Tears streamed down my face before I could even stopped it. I’m tired of this. We have been trying for three years. Cairo’s pack was already demanding an heir. I have to be pregnant. I need to fulfill my duty as his wife and as the Luna of his pack. I need to give him an heir but no matter how hard we try we always failed. I always fail him. I felt him stand so I turned my head on him but he wasn’t looking at me. “Let’s go home, Lysandra,” he coldly uttered. He didn’t shout but his words cut like knife. I can feel his disappointment. He didn’t wait for me to stand. He didn’t even hold my hand. He just stormed out of the room leaving me behind. I bowed at the doctor apologetically before following Cairo. I was half-running just to keep up with his pace. His footsteps was heavy echoing in every corner of the hallway. “Cairo,” I called but he didn’t look back. He keep on walking and the moment we reached the parking lot he stepped inside his car and drive away. The tears that I had been suppressing found its way down to my cheeks. I tried dialing his number hoping that he would pick up but my phone just keep ringing. I stayed in the parking lot for a few minutes hoping that he would come back but rain just ended up pouring and I was still stuck in the parking lot. I tried calling his Beta and even my mother-in-law but none of them answered my call. I was completely ignored by everyone. Having no choice I started walking not minding the rain that was drenching me. I think the world is against me now because I can’t even see any cab passing by. I have no idea how long did I walk but when I arrived at the mansion my body was already trembling from coldness. “Lysandra!” my mother-in-law called when she saw me standing in the front door. Her eyes was in a wide shock but I can’t see any traces of concern it was more of look of horror as if she was guilty of something. “Why are you back already? You should have wait for Cairo to pick you up,” I can feel my eyebrows creasing hearing those words. I tried calling them but none of them pick up and they expect me to just stay in the parking lot and wait for her son. “I’m fine,” I said instead of lashing out. “Where is Cairo?” I can feel the trembling of my voice but I still managed to smile. I don’t want to start an argument with my mother-in-law. Even if she always treat me badly I always do my best to please her. She’s still my husband’s mother. I want her to like me even if she always disrespects me. “I-I will make you a c-cup of tea. You look cold,” My forehead creases even more hearing her answer. She tried to smile but panic was evident in her eyes. “Where is my husband, Mom?!” I demanded. The trembling of my voice was now gone. She didn’t respond but the way her hand shake while holding me was enough to tell me that something was wrong. I brushed off her hold something that I never dared to do before. I heard her calling me but I continued marching upstairs heading to our room. I ignored the pain on my ankle and continued walking until I was standing in front of our door room. I was still outside but I can already hear a woman’s moan. The rage that I felt vanished into thin air and was replaced with pain. “You’re so tight. You feel so good. I should have married you instead of your sister. She is useless Alliana,” With my trembling hands I twisted the door knob open. I was trying to deny it. I was hoping that maybe I heard incorrectly but no. Tears streamed down my face when I saw my husband on top of my sister, Alliana. They were both naked but Alliana immediately pushed Cairo on top of him and covered her body with the blanket. “Lysandra it’s not what you think. I just want to help you. I will help you give Alpha Cairo an heir so you don’t have to pressure yourself in bearing a child,” That was the most absurd excuse I heard in my lifetime. Does that make sense to her? “Do you really call this help, Alliana?! This is what a w***e would do-” “Lysandra!” Cairo’s thunderous shout cut off the words I was about to say. I turned my head on him and instead of seeing an apologetic gaze he was looking at me sharply. “Don’t you dare call your sister a w***e,” My mouth hang open hearing his warning. I wasn’t expecting an apology because I know he will never do that but he should at least fell guilty for what he did. “Is that the reason why you left me in the parking lot? Is this the reason why you let you walk home? So you can f**k my sister?” He took a deep breath. He wasn’t saying anything. He was just staring at me as if I was not worthy of any explanation. “We can try again, Cairo. Are you giving up already? Just give me time. I will bear you an heir,” “I have given you enough time, Lysandra! How long do you want me to wait?!” I tried to open my mouth but no words came out. I don’t know how to defend myself anymore. Why do I have to be like this? Why can’t I give him the only thing he wants? “Your sister is doing us a favor. Instead of throwing a tantrum why don’t you thank her?” “Thank her?” I asked in disbelief. “She is ruining our marriage, Cairo. Both of you are ruining our marriage,” “Our marriage are already ruined long time ago, Lysandra. Your inability to bear an heir ruined our marriage!” His words were too sharp. I thought the pain of walking home was already painful but the words he said shattered me even more. I looked at Alliana hoping that she could at least understand where I am coming from but she just looked away. She avoided my gaze refusing to admit that what she did was wrong. “Is this really what you want?” I asked. Without hesitation he nodded. “Alliana will be our surrogate. He will bear me an heir. If you are against my decision then you are free to leave my territory.”
