POV: IDA
I couldn’t believe how rude that guy was.
And I couldn’t believe how hot he was.
What shocked me more was _me_. Where did that courage come from? It felt like something snapped inside me as I grabbed Kim’s hand, ready to leave his sweet, beautiful, annoying face behind.
“Hey!”
His voice hit me like a growl.
I stopped and turned. The cafeteria went dead silent, like we were about to witness a fight between gods.
He looked unfairly handsome… until I saw his eyes.
They flickered from gold to red.
Just like in my dreams.
Could it be? ...
I stepped back with every step he took forward. My hand slipped from Kim’s. My own trembled. He stood so close our breaths mingled.
He stared at me like I was prey. Then he sniffed me.
The i***t _sniffed_ me!
Do I smell awful? Hurt flashed through my eyes. He wrinkled his nose like I disgusted him. We stared at each other, and I got lost in his eyes. His gaze dropped to my lips, and my insides tingled.
I forgot the world existed.
Black hair. Sharp jaw. Red eyes that turned gold, then pitch black. Pointed nose. Full lips. He smelled heavenly—like rain on dry earth.
I wanted to touch him.
I wanted him.
I reached out without thinking.
“Get your hands off me, i***t!”
His slap stung my wrist. I jerked back, humiliated.
What the hell was wrong with him?
And why did I feel drawn to him anyway?
“You’re a jerk!” I shouted. “I hate you! You hear me? I _hate_ you!”
I stormed out.
What was wrong with him? It’s not like I was in my right mind when I tried to touch him. So why was he so annoying… and so hot at the same time?
“Ah!” I screamed the second I hit the park where Kim and I usually hung out.
I kicked the air, pretending it was his face.
“Ugh! He’s perfect, like he was sculpted by a god! Screw him and his stupid, beautiful, handsome face! Ahh!”
POV: RAPHAEL / RHAEL
I let Rhael take over. Someone needed to teach that tiny human a lesson.
I was fascinated that she defied my alpha voice. No one did that.
“Hey!” I growled, making her stop. I stepped close enough to feel her breath.
That’s when her scent hit me.
_Mate! Mate!_ Rhael screamed in my head.
I took control instantly and covered my nose.
I saw a hurt flash in her eyes. It hit me like a punch.
Rhael whimpered. _Our mate is crying._
I wanted to pull her into my arms and promise she’d never be sad again. But I had no idea how. I’d waited eighteen years for her. And now that I found her… she was human.
And I just called her an i***t.
I stared into her brown eyes. Beautiful. Long hair, perfect brows, parted lips. My eyes turned black with lust.
But I couldn’t have her.
“Get your hands off me,” I said as she reached for me.
I didn’t hear a word she said after that. Not until she said she hated me.
Good. I hated her more.
She was beautiful. I felt drawn to her like a moth to fire. But she couldn’t be my Luna. She was human. Weak. If word got out, every rogue, every rival pack, would target her.
I couldn’t protect her. Not and run a pack.
I walked out, face furious.
“Raphael! Wait!” Gabriel called, but I wasn’t ready to talk.
I got in the car and drove off. I didn’t want to be here anymore.
How could she be here? As a human?
Was the Moon Goddess playing a sick joke?
The Blood Moon Pack was the strongest in the country. And our Luna was a weak human.
I stepped on the gas, speeding toward the castle before my beast broke free where I couldn’t control it.
_Rhael?_ I tried to reach him.
He blocked me. Still mad, I was rude to our mate.
Why wouldn’t I be rude?
She was human. I was Alpha.
I had responsibilities, not a responsibility.
POV: IDA
“Are you okay?”
Kim’s voice was soft. I hadn’t realized I’d been crying in the park for God knows how long.
I didn’t even understand why it hurt so much.
“Ida, talk to me,” Kim said, kneeling in front of me. “Why are you crying?”
“I-I don’t know,” I sniffed. “Why would he cover his nose in front of me? Does everyone think I smell bad now?”
“Aww, Ida.” Kim pulled me into a hug. “Don’t worry. Everyone knows he’s an asshole.”
She pulled back and studied me. “You’re not crying because of that. You’re crying because he rejected you.”
“Of course he rejected me! And I’m furious! Even though he’s tall, dark, and has those lips that—”
“Yeeee!” Kim shrieked like a banshee.
“I thought you said you’d never like anyone! So why are you swooning over him?”
My face burned.
How could I have feelings for the guy who humiliated me in front of the whole school?
“Fine,” I muttered. “I won’t like him. I’m just… smitten with his looks. That’s all.”
Kim raised a brow.
“Okay, fine! I know I said I’d stay out of romance. But that was before I met him. I feel connected to him in a way I don’t understand. It’s like I’ve known him forever. And I don’t know what I’ll do if I see him again.”
Kim smiled like she’d just found the last piece of a puzzle.
“Don’t worry, Ida. Everything will make sense soon. Destiny works in mysterious ways, my love.”
She hugged me again.
And my chest burned, like something inside me was clawing, desperate to get to him. like it knew him better than I did.
"You felt that too, didn't you?" Kim whispered in my ear.
Her voice was low, serious.
I pulled back confused and scared.
"What...what was that"
Kim just smiled and didn't answer.
