Chapter Thirty-Eight

212 Words
“So what do you think?” Cameron asked, ignoring her alpha’s comments. She effectively pulled Serena from her depressing memories. “Think about what?” Serena questioned, totally confused by the different conversations being carried out simultaneously. “Think about Caleb of course. Do you find him attractive? Would you date him?” “Umm…” “I can tell you now he is attracted to you –“ “Cam –“ “I know because he’s been trying his best to ignore you, but it’s not working. He keeps glancing at you,” Cameron continued as if Caleb hadn’t just growled another warning at her. Serena turned to Aiden. “Are they always like this?” She queried. Aiden laughed harder and shook his head in the affirmative. “You haven’t seen anything yet. I try to keep out since I know better.” “He learned a long time ago to stay out of our way,” Cameal said with a smirk on her pretty face. “He may be the alpha but we have ways of making his life miserable.” The other sister, Cameron, giggled while Caleb finally lifted his head, only to glare at her. “Cameron,” he admonished. “No one would believe you two are thirty by the way you act. You need to start acting your age, that is to say, be more mature.” Cameron turned toward him with rounded blue eyes and lips all pouty. “What? I’m just being honest. What does that have to do with acting my age?” “Facts are relative to you and you just shouldn’t say certain things out loud.” Cameron shrugged. “You might not speak your mind, but I do.” Aiden raised both his hands up. “Okay guys, please stop. We don’t need this escalating into a sibling brawl before the barbeque starts. After we are finished eating and celebrating Serena’s arrival, if you still feel like ripping each other apart, feel free to do so. Just don’t wreck my house.” “I think I’ll survive a few hours without smacking some sense into my older brother,” Cameron said with a smirk. Serena liked both sisters already. They reminded her of her wolf, full of sass. She hoped they could all become friends. “He’ll definitely need a few smacks later,” Cameal cut in. “It’s nice to meet you, Serena,” she added belatedly. Cameron shook her head, her eyes widening, “oh gosh, where are my manners? It’s nice to meet you, Serena!” “Same here.” Serena echoed to both sisters. Finally, she turned to Caleb, taking a moment to soak him in as much as she could. “It’s nice seeing you again, Caleb.” Caleb nodded his head in acknowledgement but kept his mouth shut. “Why didn’t you mention you’d met the new she-wolf already?” Cameal asked. Caleb glanced at his sister, eyes narrowed. “If you recall, I’m your brother, not your sister prone to gossip.” Cameron scoffed as she gave her brother the side-eye. “What’s up with you this evening? You usually don’t act so dickish, Caleb Blackwood!” “Can you blame me? You guys are being extra annoying,” he retorted. Cameron cracked a grin and shrugged. “Point taken.” Aiden sighed. “Children, can we keep it civil? Let’s not give our new packmate a reason to want to leave already.” He turned to Serena, a grimace on his face. “Come. Let me introduce you to some more wolves.”
