Chapter Sixteen

212 Words
When he was gone, Aiden turned to Serena and clapped his hands. “Do you have any questions for me? I have about fifteen minutes more before I need to prepare for a conference call.” Serena thought about it before speaking up. “What about me joining the enforcers? I’d prefer to stay active and be of use to the pack. I don’t want to be seen as a freeloader. I’ll pull my weight and prove my worth.” “Ah, yes. We can have Ric evaluate you sometime this week. If he’s satisfied with your abilities, you’ll be more than welcome to join.” “What does the position entail? From what I’ve experienced every alpha has different expectations for their enforcers, and I want to know what I’d be getting myself into,” Serena said. Scratching the stubbles on his face before responding, Aiden said “your main job is to protect the pack. That means you’ll be put on a rotating shift running patrols with the other enforcers.” “Okay.” “We also have weekly training you’ll be expected to join. Those are run by Ric and occasionally me.” “I can do that.” “When you came earlier you may have noticed the enforcers downstairs. Most of them live and eat here, but since you’ll be in a packhouse, things will be a bit different. You’ll still be welcome to take your meals here as often as you like and have full access to any of the amenities the mansion has to offer. In addition to food and lodging, you’ll also receive a stipend for your services.”
