I would have swore time had frozen in place after I hung up the phone but Sam's voice quickly brought me back to my harsh reality. I wasn't stuck in limbo somewhere, I was struggling to breathe outside Francisca's room and time was indeed moving faster than I could comprehend.
“Hey, Mil, why are you…?” her words caught in her throat as she walked up to me, worry quickly replacing impatience. “What did he say?” she asked with fire in her eyes. I had not told her who had called me before leaving the room but somehow, she knew.
