Chapter FourThe next day Jean arose earlier than usual, around seven, showered and dressed in a conservative black skirt with a hem just below the knee and matching jacket, along with a white blouse and black heels. She wore her hair up in an elegant twist and she applied minimal makeup. She had a light breakfast of toast and coffee and took the bus downtown. For all appearances, she was just another one of the thousands of office workers who made the same journey that day from various parts of the city and suburbs.
