In the law business, one's workload frequently ebbs and flows, and seldom is there just the right amount. Usually, either there is too much to do or not enough. Lawyers refer to the phenomenon as “feast or famine.” Although circumstances could change with one phone call from a client with a huge new assignment, by late afternoon, Paul was approaching a mild period of famine. Without tons of work to occupy him, despite his best efforts, his thoughts returned to Evelyn. He had to see her and try to patch things up.
