CHAPTER THIRTEEN I lifted my eyes to the guilty faces of my companions. “Where is he?” Duncan pursed his lips. “Sheol told me he ran through the gate and into the trees soon after you collapsed.” Sheol solemnly nodded. “He gave you one sniff as I held you and then took straight off into the woods.” “One detour and then I’m off to find answers,” I insisted as I eased myself onto my feet. My exhaustion this time wasn’t as bad as the time before, and I found that my legs could hold me without Duncan’s support. Duncan stood and took my hand anyway. “We’re off to find answers.” We three hurried through the halls of Mordra’s mansion and out into the courtyard.
