*Emily’s POV
What did I just see? Alpha Blake was hot as f*ck, oh my goddess. If my parents were to choose a husband for me, I hope is him. I go back to my room and start getting ready. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want to be part of that whole choosing-a-mate situation, but Mia’s idea is starting to ground into my head, maybe it is my way out.
“Honey,” my mom knocks on my door and walks in before I can answer. “I wanted to check on you if you needed any help,”
“I know you’re here because you feel bad you cause such a scene in front of the Alpha you care so much about,” I say to her, a little bit more harshly than I actually wanted.
“I’m sorry for that,” she apologizes, that surprise me, she never does that.
“It’s okay, Mom,” I say more calmly than before. “I don’t need anything right now, but I was thinking maybe we can go to the mall tomorrow, I still need some jewelry for my dress,”
“I don’t know, Emmy…” she says hesitantly. I know it’s because she doesn’t feel comfortable leaving Mia alone on this, but I want to help Mia to prove her wrong.
“Mom, you can trust Mia on this. Let’s have a mom-daughter day. I miss one of those with you,” I say, trying to get her.
“Okay, you may be right honey,” she agrees, and I couldn’t be happier. I really miss spending time with my mom. My mom is great, we always used to spend so much time together, but when I lost Jason and I refused to look for another mate we just went apart. But I love my mom more than anything.
Today’s dinner was nothing formal, but my dad has made it very clear that he wants us to be decent and in our best attire. I don’t complain, I like to dress up and all that stuff. I look at myself in the mirror, and I like what I have done. I am wearing a square neck short navy-blue dress and to less down a bit the formality of the dress, I go with white Nike’s in which the logo matches the color of the dress. I take the hair out of my head with a braid crown. And I am ready to go.
I leave my room and walk to the hall where everyone is gathered around. I like to see people enjoying themselves and having fun. But there is one thing I love the most, having a place in the meeting tomorrow. My dad asked a few Alphas if they were okay with me coming and they all agreed. I know they like my opinions and I know, for a fact, that my dad thinks I am one of the best strategists he has ever met. He told my mom a few years ago.
“Emily, so happy to see you.” I hear someone behind me greeting me. I turn around and I see Roney, he’s the son of the Alpha of the Bloodmoon pack. We have been friends since we were kids, his pack is our neighbor.
“Roney, I thought you were away in boarding school,” I say, smiling. “But I am glad you’re here, at least I am not going to be alone on this long boring weekend,” I whisper this last part to him, and I hook my arm with his. You would wonder why I don’t choose Roney to be the escape plan I have. Well, Roney is gay, he is my best friend, and he has a boyfriend. So is a big no.
We walk around greeting the people who are already there. After a few minutes, we sat down at one of the tall tables to have a drink. He is just messing around like we were kids; I love the time with him.
“Who the f*ck is that?” he asks me, staring at the stairs. I turn my head to look and answer him.
“Oh,” I laugh. He was looking at Alpha Blake. “He is Alpha Blake, handsome, isn’t he?”
“Handsome? Emily, that guy is another level of handsome, he was made by the Greek goddesses,” he says not removing his gaze from him. “Maybe he is gay?”
“I don’t know Roney, but I don’t think so. I met him earlier and he didn’t seem like gay to me,” I say, hoping he wouldn’t be gay. If he is my plan is going to fall apart.
“Well, one thing is for sure, he can’t get his eyes from you. Are you sure he is not your mate?” he asks me and finally turns his head back to look at me.
“I’m sure, Roney. Ayla doesn’t say react to him and I don’t sense anything from him, besides of being f*cking hot, that anyone can see that.” I answer him. And come again with the mate’s thing. Roney knows better than this. “But you know…” I start to tell him everything that has happened in the last day. By the end of my story, he is looking right at me, so into my story. He was a drama king.
“Girl, you have to make your parents choose him!!” he almost yells. “I know, you don’t want a mate and I respect that, even if I don’t think is the right thing to do. But if what you’re saying is true, they must choose him.”
“Yeah, sure. How am I going to do that? I know that sounds horrible, but if they are going to make me do this, at least I can be with someone I find attractive.” I conclude and wait for him to answer.
“Honey, that’s easy. Act like you’re into him, of course you can’t act the whole mate thing, but you can pretend you like him…” he says and raises one of his eyebrows. Maybe that is a good idea, if my parents see that I like Alpha Blake that would trick them into thinking he is a good option for their twisted plan. “Do you like my plan, don’t you?”
“What?” I say, I was lost in my thoughts.
“Yeah, you like it, I know when you like something,” he laughs. Suddenly he slaps my arm and opens his eyes like plates. “Act normal, he is coming straight here,” What did you just say? Who is coming? I try my best to keep my head in the position it is, I don’t want him to think we were talking about him.
“Emily, nice to see you here,” I hear the voice of Alpha Blake behind my back. I gently turn around, so I am looking at him.
“Alpha Blake, good to see you again. I hope you’re enjoying your night,” I say standing up from my seat and smiling back at him. “He is Roney, the next Alpha of the Bloodmoon pack.”
“Nice to meet you, Roney. I haven’t had the pleasure to meet your pack, but hopefully I can soon,” he says and stretches Roney’s hand. “Emily, can we talk in private?”
Hell yes! – Ayla says excited.
“Yes, sure. Roney, I’ll be back.” I say to Roney as he sends me a look full of I-told-you-so.
I stand up next to Alpha Blake and he puts his hand in my lower back to guide me to the outside of the house. I pay special attention to my parents, who looked at me when they saw me with Blake. We walk to the garden outside of the house, where we are far from everyone.
“Alpha Blake, you wanted to talk…” I say looking to the sky.
“Please, you can call me Blake. Yes, nothing important, I just wanted to get to know you better. I have heard from other alphas that you’re a good strategist and that you are very intelligent,” he says as we keep walking around. That was it? Emily, remember the plan. The plan.
“Oh, have you heard about that,” I say, and he just nods, waiting for me to continue. “I like to have a voice here in my pack and I have helped my dad in battles and when they need to arrange things with the warriors. I like training and running, I don’t know what else to tell you,” I say truthfully.
“I see. You’re the first woman I have heard that likes those things, interesting to meet someone like that,” he says, and he seems really surprised by that.
“Thank you. I have followed the work that you have done with your pack, very impressive. The way you build that up,” I say, it’s not a complete lie. Since the day my dad told me about him, I investigated and I found out he used to have a small pack, but he was the one who put it up.
“Thank you, Emily. I have been working very hard to achieve that. Maybe we can work out tomorrow, I didn’t bring any training schedule or anything and I bet you’re really good,” he suggests. The idea is not bad.
“Where are you, Emi?” I got a link from Mia. “I need you here, now!” she screams on the link.
“Blake, we must go back. Mia, my brother’s mate needs me. But of course, we can train tomorrow, I’ll meet you in the training field by seven in the morning,” I say smiling and walking back to the pack. Once we are back in the dining room I turn and give him a small smile. “Don’t be late, Blake. If you’re late you have to run one mile for each minute,”
I don’t give him time to answer and just go to where Mia is looking at me with her usual look.
