The training

*Blake’s POV It’s going to work, believe me. She likes you. Luke is saying in the back of my mind. I am starting to feel bad about this because Emily is actually really nice. She is intelligent and she seems to be a wonderful woman. Why is she unmated? After all, she is the daughter of an Alpha and it’s unusual that she doesn’t have a mate. Don’t feel bad, she likes us. We are not her mate, obviously, but she doesn’t hate us, it’s not like we are dragging her into our pack. I don’t know, mate. I say I don’t know what I am doing anymore. I feel really bad, but the plan must go on. My head is a mess, but the truth is, I really don’t want a mate, but I need a Luna and an heir, the more I know Emily, the more I think she is the one for this. Moon Goddess why would you mated me with Allyson? A girl who didn’t love me didn’t honor the mate bond and cared more about status and money. That frustrated me, I am not a bad person, at first I wanted a mate, I planned on cherishing her and loving her, but that person isn’t here anymore. I didn’t get much sleep that night. My head is a mess but right now I have to leave that on the side. I don’t want to be late to training with Emily. I get to the training field a couple of minutes before seven and there are a lot of people already training. Emily is on the side talking to the same guy from last night and a blonde girl, who I think is her brother’s mate. I am walking toward them, when Emily turns around to see me, like they told her to. “Good morning, Blake. I hope you got good sleep because the training is heavy today,” she says and turns back again, giving me the sight of her back. She is wearing black shorts and a cropped oversized t-shirt. She has her hair up in a ponytail, and I can see she has some highlights to her caramel hair. “Are you ready? I usually start with some running, but today I am running 13 miles, so I’ll do it at the end,” she explains to me. “Uh, yes. Where should we start?” I ask her, 13 miles? Is this girl crazy? That’s a lot. But now I can understand the amazing body she has, if this is her train every Monday. She smiles like she knows what I am thinking, and she starts walking. I follow her and we get to the running field. “We will start with just one mile, Blake. Then, we will do some lift training, then we spar a little, and if you want and you feel good you can do the 13 miles with me. No pressure on that one,” she says giggling. I have never run that much before, but I guess I can try. I nod my head and she start doing some stretching and articular movements. I follow everything she is doing; she seems like a professional. After a couple minutes we start running into the field. God, she is fast, her movements when running seem like natural, like she was born to do this. It is not bad, the mile was easy. Then we gathered around with some other people, and we start on the weightlifting. By this moment, everything seems like a normal training to me, the one I would do in my pack. Nothing out of the ordinary. “Okay,” Emily says letting go a heavy bar she was using to do squads. “I’m ready to move into sparring, are you ready?” she asks me as she walks to the circles where they do spar. “Yes, sure. How you guys do it?” I ask. “We usually spar against the ones at our same level. I assume you’re in the same as mine, so we can spar together,” she says with a smile. She seems to be very competitive. “You and me?” I ask in disbelief. I am not used to doing that with girls, in our pack we usually split. “Yes, in battle we can guarantee a woman is going to fight a woman. So, yes you and me. I’ll go easy on you,” she smirks. I nod and follow her to the circle. There’s one guy in the middle of it, explaining to us the rules of the battle. She has the biggest smile I have ever seen in a woman before; she wants to beat me so badly. Before we start, she takes her T-shirt off. Her body is even more amazing from the front view. She has a flat abdomen, she doesn’t have a six-pack, but a very flat abdomen. We start and the battle goes smoothly. We are pretty good, both of us. “That was good, Blake,” Emily says as she drinks from her water bottle. “Now, the fun part, are you coming to the 13 miles?” she asks while walking to the field. “Yes, I am going with you,” I say knowing very well that I am going to regret my decision. She smiles and puts on her headphones. I just stand there waiting for something to save me from this, but the help never comes. She starts running and I follow her trying to equal her pace, but she is fast, goddess. About 7 miles later I think I am going to faint, I really want to keep going, but it is impossible. After a long dilemma, I decided to make her signal that I was going to stop. She smiles and keeps running. “Hey, you were great out there,” I heard Emily saying behind me. Is she joking or what? “What?” I ask in disbelief. “I am serious, you don’t seem to be a runner,” she laughs. “But 7 miles for a beginner it’s pretty impressive.” She says to me, that is nice, actually. It was hard for me and she noticing it boosts my confidence a bit. “Well, I have to leave. I’m going shopping for some stuff I need for tonight. Hope you liked the training,” she says. Before I can answer, she is already gone. Dude, she is the one. We have to get her – Luke says in the back of my mind. She is more excited about this plan than me. Luke, she is not a thing. But I agree, she is perfect for the plan. She is intelligent, she is beautiful, and she is an Alpha’s daughter. – I answer him. Go talk to her dad, I bet he would agree. – he suggests finally. After I got ready, I decided it was time to talk to Alpha William. I am walking toward his office, and everything I see around the pack is chaos. I see the blonde girl, who was talking to Emily earlier, running around and instructing people what to do. I guess she is the next Luna. When I arrive to his office, I gathered all my courage, even if I am an Alpha what I am just about to talk with him is not easy and he may not like it. “Alpha William…” I say knocking on the door, which was half open. “It’s Blake,” I announce myself. “Blake, please come in,” he says, and I open the door to meet him. I look around his office, it is splendid. Really good design, the one in charge of designing the spaces here is amazing. It is a big office, wooden and leather are the main characters in the whole scenario. “Blake, take a seat. How are you?” he asks me as I sit down. “William, I am amazed by your pack. I went training with Emily this morning and it really surprised me how well-trained your warriors are,” I compliment his pack. This is the best way to start this conversation. “Thank you so much for that, Blake. We cared for that a lot. We may not be the biggest pack, but we have a very strategic location, that can make us vulnerable sometimes,” he explains, it is true. “Tell me, how can I help you?” “William, what I am about to tell you may be sensitive and you may get mad at me. Believe me, this is not the way I would like things to go, but it is an option. Before I tell you, I have to explain to you a bit of my history.” I say. “You’re scaring me, Blake. You have my full attention,” he says and looks right at me. His eyes are just like Emily’s, but his color is more like dark blue. “William, as you may know, I am unmated, but I used to have a mate. I was mated to a girl named Allyson; she was my school sweetheart. When we found out we were mates it was like heaven on earth, I bet you know what I mean. And I thought she was feeling the same way, but it turned out she wasn’t. She was after money and status. She met my cousin, Jason, and he offered her to be the Luna of his pack, which was bigger than mine at that moment. So, she left me, she rejected me and accepted Jason as her chosen mate.” I explain to him. I obviously skipped a lot of details, but overall, that was the history. “I didn’t know that, Blake. I am sorry. But how do I, or my pack, fit here?” he asks. I know he was impatient to know. “Well, you may know, we as alphas eventually need a Luna, we need an heir. And I have a big pack, I need that. I noticed Emily doesn’t have a mate,” I am getting to the hard pack, I really don’t want to be punched in the face, but well. “And I know that maybe I should be talking with her about this, but I thought it was better to talk to you first. But I want to take her as my Luna,” I rush the words out of my mouth, it is better this way. He opens his eyes like plates and stares blankly at me. I don’t know if not telling him that I am not planning on making her my mate was the best thing, but I think it is. “Blake, I don’t know what to tell you…” he says after a couple of minutes of complete silence. Well, at least he didn’t punch me. “I am not going to lie; I have talked to my Luna about Emily’s situation. Her mate died just after they met, they didn’t have the time to mark each other. And she refuses to do something.” He explains to me. That actually shocked me. Wow, getting rejected is one thing, but that your mate dies, even if there’s love must be the worst. “I am sorry, William I didn’t know that either. I came here to the event with the purpose of finding the woman I would take with me and make her my Luna. When I met Emily, it just made sense. She is not my mate, I have to be honest with you, I don’t feel anything for her besides admiration, because she is amazing. But it made sense to me that she has to be the one,” I confess. “Blake, what you are saying is that you want my Emily to be the Luna of your pack? To rule with you the biggest pack of our region? The mother of your heir?” he asks the questions, like repeating what I just said. I nod, I don’t need to add anything else. “Blake, I will be completely honest with you as well. This may be an offer no one can deny, but I don’t want to go over Emily like that, even if I have talked to Charlotte about it. If you ask me, you can take her. But you have to ask her as well. You have my full support on this…” he says. I can feel a little regret and shame on the last part of his talking. But it is just normal. He is kind of selling his own daughter to the best bidder. “I will do it, William. You can trust me.” As I say this, we say good-bye. I need to arrange some stuff for the meeting we will be having in the afternoon. I feel the victory in my veins.
