Her Broken Alpha

HUNTERS POV

After I left Anna`s house I ran directly to my foster parents house, if any one knew the truth it would be them I needed to know. All the abuse they put me through could it have been to keep me from coming into this power that Anna spoke of? I`ve never questioned my foster parents before but I think now is the time to do it. I walked along the old country road. The leaves were falling to the ground, some already sticking to the wet pavement. The colors were soft oranges, yellows, and browns, so calming. The wind was calm, just a slight breeze now. There was moisture in the air and it smelled so good.

It took me about an hour and a half to run home, mostly because I was so distracted by the calming world around me on my walk. I also used normal walking speed, not wolf speed. I opened my front door and walked in.

“Hello?” I called out as I entered the living room. The house was silent, I used my wolf hearing to see if I could detect any sound at all. There was nothing. They must still be at work. I walked outside again and decided to go to the pack house. Maybe Alpha Cane would know something about this situation. I knew he turned a blind eye to Jack and Julies abuse of me, but maybe he'd know why they did it or why my mother left. Even if he just knew my mothers name, it would prove that Anna was lying. I then needed to figure out how she made a fake mate bond feel so real. It was hard ignoring it before but now that I knew it was all a lie it would be much easier to fight.

*YOU A****le you can't fake a mate bond, not even a witch can do it. The mate bond is something that the moon goddess blesses us each with. We were lucky and got blessed with two mates! That is what we should be trying to figure out is why we were blessed with two mates!* FElix said sternly in my head. I rolled my eyes at him.

*We were given two mates because the moon goddess knew the first would reject us, however the second one is fake, and if it is real we will reject her. She is crazy! After all I've grown up with she can't really think I'd jump into something like her crazy world!* I all but spit back at him.

He growls at me *its at least worth looking into everything is it not. I have even told you that you are stronger than you think and you wont even listen to me YOUR WOLF!* with that he retreated to the back of my mind.

I reached the pack house, it was very small compared to other pack houses. It sat on two acres of land, it had a stone fence with a black gate, you needed a code to unlock it and all members of the pack knew the code once they hit 13 years of age. I entered the code and walked into the roundabout driveway. There was a water fountain in the middle with a statue of a woman standing beside a wolf, the woman is pouring the water into the fountain below. Inside the fountain are several types of fish. The hedges by the front door frame the steps leading to the double doors perfectly. I opened the door and stepped into the small foyer, at the end of the foyer to the left was a doorway leading into a lounge area, to the right a library. I walked straight down the hallway, past the stairs and to the alphas office. Past the alphas office was the dining room, kitchen and back porch and backyard. That is where most of the packs gatherings are. The pack house had three floors, the second floor was for the high ranked pack members and then visiting pack leaders, and the third floor was the alphas floor. The door to the office was closed, I could hear muffled voices coming from inside. I knocked firmly and waited.

Jack answered the door. It only made sense since he was the beta of the pack. He looked at me, his eyes got wide then he squinted them at me.

“What do you want? The Alpha and I are in the middle of very important business.” he said bitterly.

“I uh…I was hoping to talk to either you or Alpha or both..” I said hoping I sounded more confident then I felt.

He shut the door in my face and the muffled voices became louder. They were now definitely fighting. I leaned against the wall across from the office and waited. After a few moments the voices started to get quiet again and the door opened again, this time it was Luna Jasmine that answered it. She wore a bright smile on her face, it made me smile as well. I stood up and bowed to her to show my respect.

“Luna” I whispered.

“Hunter, please come in.” she said in her soft voice, motioning with her hand for me to come into the office.

I stepped into the office to find Alpha Cane sitting in his chair behind his desk, his elbows rest on the desk with his hands folded tightly at his chin. Sitting in front of him was Jack and Julie. The Luna took a seat to the alphas right.

“Please have a seat dear” Luna Jasmine said pointing to the last chair available. I did as i was told and sat.

“What is so important that you felt you needed to talk to me child?” Alpha asked, his voice was deep and calm. Though his face said otherwise.

“I…I…I want t…t…to know about m..my mom….my real mom” I stumbled over my words.

The alphas eyes lit up with fury for a brief second and then went blank again, before he answered my question.

“Child I am sure Jack and Julie have told you by now, your mother was not well enough to take care of you so she left you with Jack and Julie so they could watch over you and keep you safe.” he replied.

“They have beaten me almost daily since I was ten. How is that keeping me safe?”

“Child, you refused to go train so they had to beat you in hopes that you'd become stronger. You just never did”

“Honey we loved you as our own child, but you were so defiant and didn`t want to do anything with yourself, we didnt beat you to hurt you!” julie said acting as though she truly cared.

I sighed “can you at least tell me my real moms name?” I asked not making eye contact with anyone in particular.

“Its been so long now I dont even remember her name” Jack said chuckling to himself.

What a liar he was. I stayed quiet as to not upset anyone. I looked at Cane and he finally answered.

“Her name is Amber, Luna Amber. After she left you with the Carters she left the pack to find help for herself, she promised she would come back in time and get you. But after a year she met their alpha and married him. She wrote me a letter one day telling me that she would never be returning and that she had found her true happiness within alpha Josiah.” he paused for a moment and opened the top drawer of his desk and dug out a folded piece of paper. He handed it to me. Sure enough it was the letter he spoke of. My heart sank, but I now had my confirmation that Anna had been lying to me!

“Thank you alpha, do you mind if i keep this letter?” i asked. He shook his head. “Thank you sir” I stood and bowed to him.

“Is that everything boy? We still have important business stuff to discuss!” Jack growled.

“Yes, I will see myself out. Thank you again.” I said as i bowed one last time and then left the room.

I walked out of the pack house and back towards the gate. When a scent caught my attention, raspberries and vanilla, Sam was close. I followed the scent all the way to the training grounds. Of course shed be there, she was always training thats why she was one of the best. I stood at the entrance to the training grounds, it was a huge barn that was renovated to look like a martial arts studio. It had mats placed throughout, with a boxing rink in the far back, different styles of punching bags lined the right wall spaced far enough apart so everyone had their own space. The left wall had two sections, a rock wall lined the back half of the wall and weapons lined the front half. Alpha Cane wanted the pack to be prepared for any kind of fight, though we were almost always outnumbered.

I walked into the training grounds and looked around, I walked a little further until I saw her. Sam was on her back being pinned by some other female pack member. They laughed as the female got off Sam and they shook hands and got back into a sparring stance. I watched them spar, mesmerized by their grace and how good they both were. Sam pinned her opponent this time.

‘She is so beautiful’ Felix purred, I nodded my head agreeing with him.

After two more matches Sam looked my way. She smiled a bit and then looked back at her partner, who then looked at me and waved. They shook hands and Sam walked over to me.

“Hey Hunter, what are you doing here?” Sam asked in a sweet tone. Her voice was so musical this afternoon, it made my heart skip a beat.

“I uh…I caught your smell, as always you smell amazing and I….that sounds so creepy I`m sorry, I uh I`ll go.” I said, beating myself up internally. How stupid can I be?

“What do I smell like to you?” she asked with a giggle.

“You smell like raspberries and vanilla” I answered a bit confused.

She smiled before responding, “you smell like fresh cut pine wood to me.”

“Do uh..do you like that smell?” I asked , looking down at my shoes.

“Its one of my favorites!” she said suddenly, very cheerful. All I could do was smile.

“Hey I was just finishing up here, and I know we talked about me rejecting you but would you by chance maybe want to grab some dinner tonight? After training I am starving!” she said.

My eyes shot to hers searching for any sign that she was joking, but finding only finding a true question. “Sure , I`d like that,” I finally replied.

“awesome , let me just go get cleaned up and changed and we can go” she said. I just nodded.

I know I needed to talk to Anna again about the letter I had gotten from the Alpha but that could wait. Maybe Sam and I would have a good time and we could be mates after all. Felix danced in my head at that thought. We both wanted a mate more than anything. I took a deep breath and waited for Sam to be done cleaning and changing.
