Home Coming
He asked the taxi driver to pass in the park before he went home. When he opened the door, the coolness of the air passed into his face and he smiled and reached the leaves that were falling from the trees.
"Ahem, Sir, here is your change", said the driver.
He turned his head and told him while smiling " You can have it ", and he started to walk to enter the park.
He had a certain place to stop, a bench under a beautiful maple tree. He sat down and watched the people who passed by. Now his heart has a pinch of pain but he can endure it now. He looked at his watch and found out that he had stayed there for 30 minutes and he decided to stand in order to go home. He walked and looked back to the bench where he sat down .
He decided to walk to his home. He noticed that many things had changed in his neighborhood. But the spirit of kindness and smile on the faces of the people is still there. Wow, he can feel the spirit of Christmas that he has longed for for many years.
He hesitated to knock on his door because he heard many familiar voices.
"Should I come?" he asked himself.
But it was too late to turn back because the door opened and his aunt's voice called him "Henry".
And before he stepped down, his whole family members rushed to him and called his name.
He saw his mom sitting in her wheelchair with open arms to hug him and his father, who was smiling with teary eyes.
He approached them and he hugged them tightly. Tears are falling into everybody's eyes.
"Ohh it's Christmas, and we should celebrate the coming back home of Henry, my favorite nephew. That's my Uncle Steve.
Everybody moved as for a short time it stopped. I sat beside my mother and held her hands while everybody was preparing the food.
I looked at her and it seemed that my memories rewinded to the past 10 years.
Years full of hate and anger and no hope of seeing even a single light to be seen.
I touched the hand of my mother and her hands showed how she cared about me so much and how she worked to let me live and suffer a lot from my father's cruelty. I held my mom's hand tightly and I felt the gentle response of my mother. It seems that I was lost for a moment, but now I have snap back to reality. My father helped mom to sit on the dining table and sat beside her. I glanced at my father's face and he looked so happy to look at my mother. And I felt mom was so happy too.Everybody enjoyed food with different stories to tell and the loudest laughing I've ever heard in my entire life. I"m happy I'm home again.
