It had been three days since I had seen Xavier. I was on overnight call at the hospital, and he had been tracking down leads for the pack and finishing up a big company acquisition. By the end of the third day, I missed him so much it physically hurt, and I was unreasonably emotional. I had not been sleeping well and figured this was the “mate bond” at work.
