As we arrived at the pack house, a bunch of pups were outside playing touch football—though it looked more like full on tackle football to me. A couple of the pups ran up to Xavier’s side of the car and begged him to play. “Guys, I would love to, but I’ve got a lot going on today. Maybe next time.” The pups walked away, shoulders slumped, looking disappointed. “Xavier,” I whispered as I walked up to him, “Look how disappointed the kids are. You are like their hero. 15 minutes won’t matter.
