KAELYN WOKE TO THE sound of Chord’s voice. The room was dark. Only the flicker of candlelight allowed her to see Chord’s shadowy form. He was standing over a table, speaking to a servant. The servant spread a white cloth over the table and covered it with plates of food. “Chord?” Kaelyn called out to him. He turned around and smiled at her. “Kaelyn, I was beginning to worry.” He crossed to her and sat on the edge of the bed. “I was just about to call the physician to have a look at you.” She smiled. “I'm okay.
