Amara’s POV
Three days later,
My mom texted me to say that she went to a nice wedding shop to pick out a gown and wanted me to join her. I didn't want to go there, but I did it anyway. I walked in and saw Parker inside, talking on the phone with someone. When he saw me, his eyes lit up, and he cut the call off right away.
He greeted me with a freshly shaved face, and said, “Hi, Amara…”
“Move, I’m not in the mood to talk to you.” I rolled my eyes at him and went inside with pouty lips and a bad mood.
Damn, my day was just ruined because I saw this man again and when I put my eyes on him, he kept smirking at me like I was a clown to him.
Then I stared at my mother in the center while she was choosing the best gown for her. Then her friend Anita chose a dress for her also, and when she saw me, “Oh, look at you! You grew up like a goddess! Choose what dress you like. You will be one of your mother's bridesmaids.”
“Hmm, yeah,” I said with a blank expression, then glanced at Parker who had his eyes on me.
The staff came in, and asked, “So have you picked the dress, Mary?”
“Uhm, not yet.” Then my mom glanced at me, and asked, “What do you think of this one?” she was pointing at the beautiful sophisticated gown.
I gulped, and answered, “It’s beautiful, take it.”
She sighed, “Well, I don’t like it. I want this one.” Then she grabbed the other gown that I didn’t like and she went inside the fitting room.
Then Anita asked, “How about you? You need to choose a gown for you. You look so sexy with a perfect breast!”
I pursed my lips tightly and said, “Aunt Anita, please don’t say that!” Then I received a call from Mia.
I answered while avoiding Parker’s burning stares, “Yes?”
Mia said, “I miss you! You know the club has been so different now that you’re not working here! I’ve been missing you all the time. I don’t have friends here like you.”
Then I saw how Parker’s expression darkened. What's his problem?
I chuckled softly, “I miss you too. I hope we can have a date to see each other soon.”
Mia softly snorted, “Well, you know what happened to the three guys that did something bad to you?”
“Hmm, yeah? What happened?”
“Well, they got arrested for drugs, and other than that, someone put them in jail for good with no bail out.”
I gasped happily, “Oh wow? Really? I can’t believe this….”
She gasped softly. “Oh, yes! I will talk to you again soon, okay? Love you! And I miss you! See you soon!”
“Okay, bye-bye! love you!” Then I hung up the call with a smile on my face.
Then I talked to my Aunt Anita. “I gotta go, just tell Mom I have something important to do.”
Anita clicked her tongue, “Don’t tell me you got bored here?”
“Yeah, sort of. I gotta go, bye!”
Anita called my name, “Amara! Come back here.”
I shook my head while smiling at her, “No…”
Then I threw a glance at Parker, who stared at me intently like he wanted to devour me whole. I blinked my eyes slowly and ignored him. Then I walked outside trying to erase him from my head. When I was already far from the wedding boutique, I breathed in relief and gasped when I saw Parker’s car following me.
He rolled down his car’s window and said, “Get in.”
“I like walking.”
Then I saw five guys coming toward me, which made me nervous and anxious at the same time; I immediately stepped back a heartbeat. Since this has happened to me before, I kept thinking about it. I sucked in my bottom lip like I didn't have a choice anymore, then I opened the passenger door, and Parker drove off.
“Just…Just dropped me in the pasty shop. Thank you.” I said as I put my seatbelt on.
He ignored what I said, and he asked, “Who are you calling on your phone? Your boyfriend? Do you want to meet him today? You are even saying you love him and you miss him?”
I frowned, “What? What are you talking about?”
“I said who was the person you were talking to before?” he asked, and his jaw clenched in anger. His voice literally gives me chills right now, and I don’t get why he has to ask this nonsense question of me.
I answered, “Why do you want to know? You are my mom’s fiance, and I’m not your concern!”
“If you want me to cancel the wedding, just tell me,” he said.
My jaw dropped, “Why would I do that to my mother?”
“Because your mother was just using me, treat me like a cash flow, and if you like me, just tell me.” he said as he kept driving at high speed.
I breathed softly, and asked, “Where are we going?”
He drove me far from the city and said, "I don't know, but you're coming with me." When we got to the forest, I saw a lot of greenery and then some nice native houses in a small town. It took more than two hours, and I still don't get why I didn't say no to coming with him.
Well, he locked all the doors, and my phone just had a low battery, and no signal at all. I can’t make a call and nothing comes to my mind that if I am mean to him tonight, he’ll do something bad to me, or much worse, he’ll leave me in this strange place.
“So why are we here?” I asked innocently and tried to fix my skirt because I felt cold and freezing in that area. He took off his coat and he gave it to me.
“Parker, this is not okay, okay? If my mother, and some of the people I know—knew this, they'd hate me for coming with you alone here. Gosh, I’m so stupid! I can’t be with you! This is so wrong! so wrong!” I said, trying to explain to him everything.
He cupped my face, and said, “F*ck them.'' Then he tilted his head and kissed my lips tenderly. His lips were so soft that I wanted to kiss him back, and he whispered to my lips, “Kiss me back, Amara.” I closed my eyes and tried to kiss him back, but I remembered my mom again, and I pushed him away out of guilt. “No….”
He controlled himself, and said, “Wanna walk with me outside?”
I asked while gasping, “Why did you kiss me so suddenly, and then when I told you no, you were acting so strange, and trying to change the topic?”
He leaned in so close to me, and I could feel his breath on my lips. “So you want me to kiss you more, and not change the topic? So who’s the person you were talking to?”
I breathed heavily, and softly answered him, “M–My b–best friend, Mia.”
He smiled handsomely, plastered his perfect white teeth, and kissed my lips again, “That’s all I want to know. Good girl. So what do you want to do tonight?"
