Thunder rumbled, and a thrill shot through Gilly as the wind picked up, stirring his hair, rich with the scent of earth and rain. Here it comes! He especially loved the summer storms that swept up from the sea with the crash of waves, wind tearing through the top of the pines, tension building in the air until his heart thumped and pulse surged.
He jumped, then exalted as lightning flashed and a loud crack of thunder followed immediately. Fat drops of rain splattered against his upraised face, the storm holding off a little longer, leaving his heart thumping in anticipation.
