Chapter 31 DAY 30 Eric sat still, his eyes closed, his back rested against the wall and his legs spread out in front of him. His hair was already overgrown and rough, his beards long and unkempt. He was wearing a blue shirt and shorts which were the normal uniform prisoners wore. He opened his eyes slowly as the rays of light from the tiny window high above his cell and close to the roof shone on him. It was morning, how quick the night had been. He readjusted himself slowly leaning forward and picking up a small stone on the ground; he turned to the wall and made a stroke on the wall, “Day sixteen.” He muttered. He dropped the stone and closed his eyes; it had been sixteen whole days since he was stripped off his rank and title by the army, sixteen days and this was all that was lef
