Selene- The Void

767 Words
I thought I was asleep, but it seemed so real. I padded down the dark hallway, being drawn by something towards the living room. I stopped at the head of the stairs, looking down. There, on the landing, stood a man with fluffy black hair and pale gray eyes that saw right through me. My heart stopped at the sight of him. “Selene?” He called up to me. “JC?” I asked, unsure if I was really seeing him standing there in front of me. His face became dark, and he held out his hand. “Selene. Come here. My love, I need you to come here. Now.” “Selene?” My mom's voice came from behind me. “What's up? You okay?” I turned to look behind me at my mom. She looked worried, but I barely saw her. I turned back to JC. He took another step towards me, motioning for me to come closer. My body reacted almost on its own. I reached towards him, ready to take his hand. Ready to be with him finally. Before I could reach him though, pain shot through me. I screamed out, wanting to call his name, but unable to. And then everything went black. When I woke up again, I was on some cold floor. I looked up, finding three pale men surrounding me. One had three eyes, another only one eye. Their skin was gray and cracked like old mud. They pulled away, their eyes pulling tightly into glares. “On your feet, Love of the Destroyer.” One of them said. I slowly got up. That’s when I realized I was in a subway car. It wasn't moving and was completely empty save for the three aliens standing before me. They pushed me down to sit on one of the benches. One of them handed me an old-timey pocket watch. I looked at it. The hands weren't moving. I looked back up at the creatures. “What am I doing here?” I asked quietly. “Am I dead?” “You do not ask questions.” One of them said. “We will ask the questions here. This is our domain.” The one with three eyes said. “You will answer them, or you will spend the rest of your life here.” The one with one eye told me. “You lie, you will die.” The three said in unison. I stared at them, sure I was going to die. The creatures each turned to each other one by one. Finally, the one with only one eye stepped forward and bent down she his face was level with mine. “Where is the Destroyer?” He asked. “Who?” I asked, confused. “The Destroyer. Jackson Mora.” He told me. “Where is he?” I furrowed my brows, unsure of why they were asking me. Then, I remembered the last thing I'd seen in my house. JC, or Jackson Mora, was standing on the landing of my stairs, looking up at me. Was he really there? Was it my imagination? I looked up at the pale man, still unsure of how to answer. “I don't know who you're talking about.” I finally said. The one with three eyes lunged at me, his hands grabbing my throat. My heart stopped, and air sucked into my throat. The one-eyed one looking at his buddy, who relaxed and pulled away. The two-eyed one observed the other two. “Do not lie to us. The wraith saw the Destroyer's spirit in your house.” The one-eyed one said. “Where is he?” I shook my head. “That I don't know. That's the truth.” He stood back up, taking a step back. “Then we will be back when you do know. The location of the Destroyer is critical.” “Why?” I asked as they turned their backs on me. The one with two eyes turned back to me. “Jackson needs to pay for his crimes. And that starts with taking away the thing he loves the most. You.” With that, they turned and walked out of the car. The doors closed behind them. The subway started moving. I looked down at the pocket watch again. The hands were spinning forwards and backward, almost like I was caught in an infinite loop outside of time. I looked up, watching the blank world fly by. Defeat washed over me, and I put my head in my hands.
