The Willow Tree

Demon I mindlink Davin. I have never met a Demon and I'm sure neither has Davin. And there is only way to kill them......Light. Unlike a Vampire, sunlight only irritates them, they can only be killed with either a stake through the heart, fire or beheaded. With Demons, they are shadows. They can posses a host and be more human like, but killing them is the same. Light. That is why they travel in the shadow or at night. It's also harder to see a shadow and right now, even with our heightened eye sight, we cannot see them or smell them. So what do we do V? Davin asks, still looking around outside of the shelter. I'm not sure, we've never met one obviously but maybe we can bait it out? And how do we do that? he asks, all I do is look at him and he instantly shakes his head. Its after me, it wants me, I am the only way to draw it out and kill it babe. Davin is staring at me, I can feel his unease and nerves. He wraps his arms tighter around me. I can't protect you his eyes staring at mine. Actually I think you can. I smile and wag my eyebrows. He c***s his head to the side and looks at me confused. Remember what I said about the mate of the Monarch? he nods You can tap into my power and help me. I will be bait and draw whatever is out there to me, you come up behind and help me kill them. But I don't know how to do that. he says. Its simple, close your eyes and concentrate on me. he does as I say and close his eyes. I can feel him connecting to me. Good baby, now I am going to project my light to you, you will feel warmth spreading on your body, accept it and let it become a part of you. I close my eyes and connect to him, I can feel the warmth spread through my body, I push it to him and it begins to channel through him. he gladly accepts it and when we open our eyes, we are both glowing. "Good baby, now when I tell you to, focus your energy on pushing the light through your hands out." I say to him. "I'm not sure about this V. I don't like using you as bait." he still sounds unsure. "I know. I don't like it either but we need to get to the Willow tree and I don't think they plan to wait til the sun comes up to introduce themselves. " I state. We need to do this now because I feel something coming closer. I lean into him and kiss him. He grabs my face and deepens the kiss. We pull away but our foreheads are touching. "Be careful" he whispers and with one last kiss, I walk out of the shelter.

I walk a few feet away from Davin and the direction of the Willow tree. I don't want them to know why we're in here. I stand still for a few minutes when I begin to feel something coming closer. I wait until it feels like they are right next to me and snap my fingers. A bright light illuminates around me and I can see the Demons. I am surrounded. Theres at 20 of them if not more. They shield their eyes from my light. "Why are you following me?" I speak out loud. " Lower your light and we can talk" I hear a whisping voice coming from in front of me. "I'll only lower it if I can see all of you." was my reply. I knew that Davin was close, I could feel him. All of a sudden I looked around me and started to see figures in black smoke. I was definitely wrong, there are more like 50 or more of them. After I feel confident that I can see them all, I lower my light to a dim. Then one of the figures steps up a bit closer to me. "Are you the one they call the Monarch?" he asks. "Why are you asking?" I say keeping my palms up at my side and ready to attack. "We are looking for the Monarch who is the mate of our Master" he says again, inching a bit closer to me. V, I'm coming in. Hes to close. Davin mindlinks me. No baby wait. I hear him growl inside my head. "I have a mate already. I'm not sure who your master is, but he's not looking for me." I state back. "You smell awful good though. The Monarch is said to have blood that is sweet like honeysuckle. Our Master wants us to taste anyone we find." he inches closer to me. A smirk forms on my face. I look around at each of the shadows around me, they all seem to have smiles on their faces. They all slowly inch closer to me. Everly?!! Not yet Davin. They all continue inch closer, some still with smiles on their faces, some begin to snarl. V, I can't wait much longer. Davin is getting very angry. I know baby, give me a few more seconds. I want as many as close to me as possible. They are all getting very close to me. I am beginning to see more of their figures. All of a sudden I feel the one who spoke, his breath is right in my face. I look him straight in the eyes, "You are going to die here." and before they have time to react I bring my hands straight up so fast the light i had dim brightens quickly and they all get hit with one blast. There is hissing and screeching all around me but I just continue to shine my light brighter. My glow is getting stronger and every single Demon that is within a few feet from me is burning all around me. All of a sudden I see a bright light to my left. I turn my head to see Davin, his eyes are silver and he has a yellow glow around him, he is walking towards me, extending his hands to his left and right, burning any shadow near him. There is screeching everywhere and black smoke filling the air. Davin reaches me and we stand back to back. We continue to burn as bright as we can. I can sense he is starting to get tired and I can also see the beginning signs of the sunrise. Once I am certain we are alone and safe, I dim my light around myself and Davin. Davin quickly turns around and hugs me so tightly. He nestles into my neck and breaths my scent to calm himself. I thread my fingers around his waist and breath in his scent as well. Davin pulls away and kisses me hard. "Don't ever use yourself as bait again" he says. "I won't" We take a few minutes to look around us and see that every Demon is dead. I wave my hand around and swirl the wind to get rid of the black smoke. Once its clear, we continue to the Willow tree. Within 20 minutes we come to a clearing and in the middle of the Forest stands a beautiful huge Willow tree with purple red rimmed flowers, swaying in the breeze.
