Chapter Thirteen CASS I hit the earth with a thud that would have broken every bone in my body if I hadn’t been in my dragon form. Staring helplessly up at the thick canopy of leaves above me, I could only lie there, winded, as my shifter curled up inside my chest. Damn it. I couldn’t sustain my dragon. Soon enough I was human again, n***d and shivering in the freezing cold of the north. I curled onto my side and crossed my arms over my chest, closing my eyes and trying to draw in breaths. If I fall asleep, maybe I’ll wake up and this will all have been a dream... With a groan, I opened my eyes again. I couldn’t fall asleep, not now. But moving hurt. It hurt a whole damn lot.
