If only I knew
"Tell me the story again please? Just one more time." The small girl asked the boy. "I don't believe we have the time. It's nearly dawn and I must be getting home soon." The boy replied. The small girl then gave the boy her most adorable puppy dog eyes and begged him once more. "Oh please tell me? I want to hear it just one more time and I promise to let you leave without and trouble." The boy smiled at the girl as her beautiful grey eyes pleaded with him. How could he say no to that? As the two kids sat staring at each other in the tall grass the boy decided to lay down and look up at the stars. The girl following suit with a bright and happy smile knowing she had won him over once again. "Fine but I'm telling you this is to be the last time. I can not be out this late I could get in serious trouble with my parents." The boy started as he watched the girl from the corner of his eye. Her soft raven hair pooled around her on the grass as she watched the stars. " In the beginning there were two beings called the Sun God and the Moon Goddess. These beings loved each other very much and always wanted to be together but one day a great rift was created and that rift was called time. Time split the 2 gods apart and created both night and day. With this the two gods were always apart and so to show their undying love for one another they created gifts such as the stars in the sky and the water on the ground. Each gift bringing the gods great joy until the creation of man. Vampires and Werewolves were the most prized creations of the gods made as gifts for one another. Later the gods created gifts for their creations. That gift being man. Humans born neither vampire or werewolf was the perfect slave for werewolves and the perfect meal for vampires. Humans brought about longevity and beauty to the vampires who drank their blood while bringing health and humanity to the great werewolves. This is how the world knew peace. But one day the Sun God grew greedy for he wanted his creations to be forever happy. He decided to create life mates for his wolves. These life mates can be human or werewolf it never mattered the difference so long as his people knew their life mates were made for them and them alone. This enraged the vampires for when the wolves began to find human mates this brought their food supply to scarce levels thus beginning the first war. This war was called the Second Great Rift for it tore apart the people of our world and destroyed all Hope's for peace and prosperity. Though the war was long and brutal the werewolves never gave up knowing that the only way for them to truly be happy would be to know that their life mates were safe. Eventually the war was won and the vampires were forced to host a grand ball each year in which all humans and vampires above the age of 15 would be in attendance for the werewolves to come in search of their mates. Once found the werewolves would then leave with their mates even if the mate had been a slave to a vampire. The werewolves would have every right to claim their mate as their own with no one being allowed to stop them from taking what was rightfully theirs. The end." The boy than turned to see the young girl staring at him in wonder. With a slight blush the boy got up and began dusting off his trousers and the back of his shirt before extending his hand to help the young girl to her feet. As she took the young boys hand she slipped a single piece of paper into his hand and whispered "Promise me you won't open it until you arrive home?" The boy replied with a curt nod as he turned to go home only to be stopped by the small girl capturing him in a warm embrace. After just a moment the girl left go and sped of in the direction of the City of the Sun while the boy stood dumbfounded. He stood in that field watching her go until he could no longer see the vibrant blue of her gown. As she faded from sight he than turned and ran home as quickly as possible hoping to make it back to the City of Darkness before the sun reached the sky. If he can make it back he will be able to walk under the cover of the dark clouds produced by the many surrounding factories made to shroud the city in its profound darkness. Once inside he than runs to the castle walls and begins to climb. It's not a long climb for he has done it many times before. As he reaches his window he pulls the latch and opens them and climbs inside. Once inside he walks over to his large hand fitted bed covered in its black duvet to take a seat near the foot. It is then that he opens the note stuffed so gently into his pocket.
My Dearest Friend,
I am writing this letter to inform you that this night is to have been our last night together for when the sun has risen my parents shall be sending me away to an academy where I will study for four years away from home. I have many things I wish I had possibly had the courage to tell you to your face but for now this letter shall do. I believe that I am in love with you. If ever I have a mate I should hope that it would be you. You have been my greatest friend and confidant. I pray day and night that one day we will meet again and find that we are destined to be. But until that day I will hold you high in my heart. Please never forget me my dear for I will never forget you.
Sincerely your friend.
The boy sat there with tears running down his cheeks as he read the final words of her letter and prayed that she is correct. "If only I knew you felt this way I would have told you all the thoughts that have run through my head since the first time I had seen you. I love you..."
